Hitis
Hitis ( fi, Hiittinen) is a small archipelago and a former municipality in Finland. It lies south from Kimitoön in the province of Southwest Finland. The main islands of Hitis are Rosala and Hitis. They are connected to the mainland by a ferry. Totally there are over 2 000 islands and islets in Hitis, and some of them are still inhabited permanently. There are many summer cottages in Hitis. Hitis was a trade harbour during the Viking era. Administratively it was part of Kimito until the municipality was established in 1861. Högsåra
Högsåra is a village in the former municipality of Dragsfjärd in the archipelago of Hitis, Finland, situated on an island by the same name, with a regular ferry connection to the mainland. Kimito
Kimito (; fi, Kemiö ) is a former municipality of Finland. On January 1, 2009, it was consolidated with Dragsfjärd and Västanfjärd to form the new municipality of Kimitoön. Prior to the consolidation, it was one of the four municipalities located on Kimito island, the other three being Västanfjärd, Dragsfjärd and Halikko. It is located in the province of Western Finland and is part of the Southwest Finland region. Dragsfjärd is a former municipality of Finland. On 1 January 2009 it was consolidated with Kimito and Västanfjärd to form the new municipality of Kimitoön. It is located in the province of Western Finland and is part of the Southwest Finland region. Battle Of Bengtskär
The Battle of Bengtskär was an amphibious landing action fought between Finnish and Soviet forces on 26 July 1941 during the Continuation War. Battle Soviet landing troops made a surprise attack on the island of Bengtskär with the goal to blow up the lighthouse situated on the island so that it would not disturb Soviet military operations. Finnish troops situated on the island managed to defend the lighthouse and eventually drove the Soviets back with the help of support troops. The landing was made with four MO-class patrol boats, while another 6 boats were later dispatched to retrieve the Soviet forces once it was clear the demolition attempt had failed.
