Hit the Lights is an American pop punk band from Lima, Ohio. It is named in allusion to the '80s skateboarding film, '' Gleaming the Cube'', and has sold over 120,000 albums in North America. History Formation and ''Until We Get Caught'' EP (2003–2005) Hit the Lights formed in 2003. During the band's documentary "Vultures Don't Eat Vans," the band dispelled rumors that their name was taken from a Metallica song. Band members Colin Ross and Omar Zehery first played in a local band The Goodbye Session. Nick Thompson originally was in a group called The Summer Departure and Nate Van Dame had worked for Hawthorne Heights as a drum tech. The band released their first EP, Leaving Town Tonight, in 2004. In March 2005, Hit the Lights recorded and released the EP ''Until We Get Caught'' on Silent Movie Records. The O2 Academy Glasgow (formerly the Carling Academy Glasgow) is a music venue on Eglinton Street in the Gorbals ( Laurieston) area of Glasgow. It holds 2,500 people. It was one of two Academy Music Group venues in Glasgow, until the O2 ABC Glasgow closed due to fire damage in 2018. It was one of a group of music venues in Britain branded Carling Academy, the best known including the Brixton Academy and the O2 Academy Birmingham. ''Skip School, Start Fights'' is the second studio album from the American pop punk band Hit the Lights. Background On June 28, 2007, it was announced vocalist Colin Ross left the group. Ross explained he "decided ewould like to take a different direction with islife and not live this lifestyle any longer." The band intended to continue and find a new vocalist. Subsequently, the band's guitarist Nick Thompson became their vocalist. Demo versions of the songs "Drop the Girl," "Stay Out," and "Don't Wait" with Colin Ross' vocals leaked on the internet before the album's release. Recording The album was produced by Rob Freeman, with recording taking place at Pilot Studios in New Jersey. It was mixed by Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount. Sparks the Rescue is an American rock band from Maine. They formed when members of three high school bands, Pozer, Short of April, and Two Girls Later, converged. The Warped Tour was a traveling rock tour that toured the United States plus three or four stops in Canada annually each summer from 1995 until 2019. It was the largest traveling music festival in the United States and the longest-running touring music festival to date in North America. Following the first Warped Tour, the skateboard shoe manufacturer Vans became the tour’s main sponsor, when it then became known as the Vans Warped Tour.
