Prashant Nanda
Prashanta Nanda (born 2 May 1947) is an Indian director, actor and politician from the state of Odisha. Actor-director duo Siddhanta Mahapatra and Prashanta Nanda Given 8 all time blockbuster Movies to Ollywood. He is currently a Member of Parliament at Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament, for Odisha. He worked in the Odia film industry as an actor, director, screenwriter, lyricist and playback singer. He was also a former minister in Odisha state. Prafulla Kar (16 February 1939 – 17 April 2022) was an Odia musician, singer, lyricist, writer and columnist. He received Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award by the Government of India in 2015 for his contribution in the field of arts. Early life and career Born in 1939 into musician family in Puri, Orissa Province. His father is Baidyanath Kar and mother is Susila Kar. His uncle Khetra Mohan Kar was a tabla player. Odia (, ISO: , ; formerly rendered Oriya ) is an Indo-Aryan language spoken in the Indian state of Odisha. It is the official language in Odisha (formerly rendered Orissa), where native speakers make up 82% of the population, and it is also spoken in parts of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Sriram Panda ( or, ଶ୍ରୀରାମ ପଣ୍ଡା, born c. 1954) is an Indian Odia actor, director and a screenplay writer hailing from the Nabarangpur district, Odisha, India. Career Sriram Panda started his film career in Dhir Biswal's '' Dharitri'' directed by Nitai Palit in 1972, which was a success. In 1975 he starred in the lead role of Jajabara directed by Trimurti which was a huge hit & is still regarded as one of the classic films to be ever made in Odia film industry. A coloured version of Jajabara was later released which garnered high popularity among the masses. In 1976 he starred in 6 films 4 of which were commercially successful. He emerged as Superstar of Odisha in the 1980s and 1990s. Mahasweta Ray is an Indian actress and television personality who is known for her work in Odia films and soap operas. Her numerous accolades include record 8 Odisha State Film Awards. Biography Ray was born in an academic family (Rajkishore Ray was a writer and academic) and had had limited exposure to cinema before she started a career in film. She worked on a majority of the films by Sisir Mishra, including many box office successes. She married Sirish Routray, with whom she has a son, Rishi. Jharana Das
Jharana Das (, 1945 – 2 December 2022) was an Indian Ollywood actress and journalist. She was known for her contributions to the Odia film industry. Life and career Jharana Das started her career in the 1960s as a child artist and announcer for All India Radio, Cuttack where she produced creative content across drama, song and film. She later also worked as an assistant station director of Doordarshan in Cuttack. ''Times Now'' stated that Das "chose a career in the movies at a time when not many chose to walk the path" and reported that she had to deal with family opposition to follow her calling. The Odia (), formerly spelled Oriya, is an Indo-Aryan ethnic group native to the Indian state of Odisha who speak Odia language.
