Day was born on August 5, 1896, in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Her education was in New York City's public schools and in the Art Students League there. Day began performing on stage when she was a child. Billed as Sylvia Day, she appeared on Broadway in ''Ziegfeld Nine O'Clock Review'' (1919). Her film debut came in 1921 in Cecil B. DeMille's ''Forbidden Fruit (1921 film), Forbidden Fruit''. When Day left acting in films, she began teaching drama in Manhattan. She died on February 24, 1977, in New York, aged 80. Raymond Cannon (born Ulises Tildmann Cannon; September 1, 1892 – June 7, 1977) was an American actor, film director, screenwriter, journalist, and author known for his work with D. W. Griffith and Buster Keaton. Background Ulises Tillman Cannon was born September 1, 1892 in Long Hollow, Tennessee to Newton Cannon and Sarah Lincoln Bolinger. In 1910 he was working at a soda fountain in Knoxville, but after leaving divinity school, he moved west, performing in vaudeville and working as a journalist in Dallas and Fort Worth. In April 1918, Cannon became a journalist for Elmer M. Robbins' weekly magazine ''Camera! The Digest of the Motion Picture Industry''. E.M. Julien Josephson (October 24, 1881 – April 14, 1959) was an American motion picture screenwriter. His career spanned between 1914 and 1943. He was a native of Roseburg, Oregon.
