Hirut Meshesha
Hirut Meshesha (born 20 January 2001) is an Ethiopian middle-distance runner. She won the bronze medal in the women's 1500 metres at the 2022 World Indoor Championships in Belgrade. Meshesha took gold for the 800 metres at the 2019 African Games. Career Hirut Meshesha gained her first international experience at the 2017 IAAF World U18 Championships held in Nairobi, Kenya, where she won the bronze medal in the girls' 800 metres. She then went to Argentina for 2018 Summer Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires and took bronze in the girls' 800m event In April 2019, she competed at the African U18 and U20 Championships, which were held in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, and won the silver medal at 800m in the under-20 women category. 2017 IAAF World U18 Championships
The 2017 IAAF World U18 Championships was the tenth and last edition of the biennial international athletics competition for youth (under-18) athletes. The five-day competition took place between 12 and 16 July at the Moi International Sports Centre in Nairobi, Kenya. Eligible athletes were aged 16 or 17 on 31 December 2017 (born in 2000 or 2001). South Africa topped the medals table with 11 medals, five of them gold, while host nation Kenya finished fourth with four gold and 15 medals in total. Axumawit Embaye
Axumawit Alem Embaye (Amharic: አክሱማዊት አምባዬ; born 18 October 1994) is an Ethiopian middle-distance runner, who specialises in the 1500 metres. She is a two-time World Indoor Championship silver medallist from 2014 and 2022. Career Axumawit Embaye made her first major appearances in 2012. She was runner-up in the 800 m at the Ethiopian junior championships and ended up seventh at the 2012 World Junior Championships in Athletics, recording a personal best of 4:12.92 minutes. She switched to the 1500 metres for the 2013 season and performed well on the European circuit. Gudaf Tsegay Desta (born 23 January 1997) is an Ethiopian middle- and long-distance runner. She is the 2020 Tokyo Olympic bronze medallist in the women's 5000 metres. At the World Athletics Championships, she won a bronze for the 1500 metres in 2019 and a silver in this event and gold for the 5000 m in 2022. Tsegay is a two-time 1500 m World Indoor Championship medallist, winning gold in 2022 and bronze in 2016. She is the current world record holder in the indoor 1500 m, the event in which she also set world under-18 (current) and U20 records. At age 17, she was the 2014 World Junior Championship 1500 m silver medalist. She represented her country over the distance at the 2014 World Indoor Championships. Tsegay is a versatile runner.
