The 21st-century hipster is a subculture (sometimes called hipsterism). Fashion is one of the major markers of hipster identity. Members of the subculture typically do not self-identify as hipsters, and the word ''hipster'' is often used as a pejorative for someone who is pretentious or overly concerned with appearing trendy. Stereotypical fashion elements include vintage clothes, alternative fashion, or a mixture of different fashions, often including skinny jeans, checked shirts, knit beanies, a full beard or deliberately attention-grabbing moustache, and thick-rimmed or lensless glasses. Hipster (Space Ghost Coast To Coast)
''Space Ghost Coast to Coast'' is an animated late-night talk show. It is hosted by washed-up superhero Space Ghost and co-stars his archenemies Zorak and Moltar, who he has imprisoned and enslaved. Zorak is bandleader and Moltar is director and producer. They regularly disrupt the show in contempt of Space Ghost. The name Alan Laddie was the nom de plume for the show's writing staff. Two unaired pilots were created, the first released as a special feature on the ''Volume Two'' DVD set. The series premiered on April 15, 1994, and ended on May 31, 2008, with a total of 109 episodes over the course of 11 seasons. Hipster PDA
The Hipster PDA is a paper-based personal organizer, popularized by Merlin Mann in 2004. Originally a tongue-in-cheek reaction to the increasing expense and complexity of personal digital assistants (PDA), the Hipster PDA (said to stand for " Parietal Disgorgement Aid" and often abbreviated to "hPDA") simply comprises a sheaf of index cards held together with a binder clip. Following widespread coverage in the media and blogs, the hPDA became a popular personal management tool particularly with followers of David Allen's ''Getting Things Done'' methodology. Although it began as a joke, or perhaps a statement about technology fetishism, the Hipster PDA has rapidly gained popularity with serious users, with hundreds posting pictures of their customized hPDAs on photo sharing sites and exchanging tips on Internet mailing lists. ''Stilyagi'' (russian: Стиляги, also known as ''Hipsters'' in the English release) is a 2008 Russian romantic jukebox musical film directed by Valery Todorovsky and starring Anton Shagin and Oksana Akinshina. Set in mid-1950s Moscow, the film depicts the Soviet ''stilyagi'' subculture, along with their struggle for self-expression within the prevailing reality of the Soviet repression. ''Stilyagi'' has been featured at the Toronto International Film Festival, Nashville Film Festival, and the Cleveland International Film Festival, where it has been an audience favorite.
