Hip Hop Skit
A hip hop skit is a form of sketch comedy that appears on a hip hop album or mixtape, and is usually written and performed by the artists themselves. Skits can appear on albums or mixtapes as individual tracks, or at the beginning or end of a song. Some skits are part of concept albums and contribute to an album's concept. Skits also occasionally appear on albums of other genres. The hip-hop skit was more or less pioneered by De La Soul and their producer Prince Paul who incorporated many skits on their 1989 debut album ''3 Feet High and Rising'', however an even earlier example may be found at the end of the Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five hit, '' The Message''. Sketch Comedy
Sketch comedy comprises a series of short, amusing scenes or vignettes, called "sketches", commonly between one and ten minutes long, performed by a group of comic actors or comedians. The form developed and became popular in vaudeville, and is used widely in variety shows, comedy talk shows, and some sitcoms and children's television series. The sketches may be improvised live by the performers, developed through improvisation before public performance, or scripted and rehearsed in advance like a play. Rosenberg (born August 1, 1971) is an American music manager, current CEO of Goliath Records and former CEO of Def Jam Recordings, best known as the agent and manager of American rapper Eminem. Jean-Christophe Le Saoût (; born 19 July 1975), better known by the stage name Wax Tailor, is a French record producer and DJ. He has released six studio albums collaborating with other artists. The Message (Grandmaster Flash And The Furious Five Song)
"The Message" is a song by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. It was released as a single by Sugar Hill Records on July 1, 1982, and was later featured on the group's debut studio album of the same name. "The Message" was an early prominent hip hop song to provide a social commentary. The song's lyrics describe the stress of inner-city poverty. In the final verses it is described how a child born in the ghetto without perspective in life is lured away into crime, for which he is jailed until he commits suicide in his cell.
