Arthur Hinman
Arthur Gurr Hinman (19 June 1890 – 10 May 1915) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the University Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Family The third of four children of Arthur Hinman (c.1858-1914), and Lucy Maud Hinman (?–1918), née Gurr, Arthur Gurr Hinman Hinman was born in Launceston, on 19 June 1890. He was the elder brother of VFL footballer Bill Hinman. Education He was educated at Launceston Church Grammar School. While in his final year at school, he played for the Launceston Football Club, before studying science at the University of Tasmania. He subsequently studied mining engineering at the University of Melbourne. Football During 1910 and 1911 he was a regular player for the University Football Club in the VFL competition. Benjamin Hinman
Benjamin Hinman (22 January 1719 – 22 March 1810) was a surveyor, soldier and legislator. He participated in the Colonial and Revolutionary Wars and took part in the Constitutional Convention of 1787. Notably, he was present at Bernetz Brook where General Howe was killed in 1758. He was also one of the first American officers of the revolutionary war and led a regiment into the field to secure the Hudson corridor from the British a year before the declaration of independence. In later life, he was involved in the exploration and surveying of portions of Vermont. In modern times, he is known for his, often misrepresented, confrontations with Benedict Arnold and New York General Philip Schuyler. Biography Hinman was born in the town of Woodbury, Connecticut. Bill Hinman
William Frederick Hinman (1 July 1892 – 15 June 1964) was an Australian rules footballer who played in Tasmania and with University in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1910s. Bill Hinman was born in Launceston, the youngest of four children born to Arthur Hinman and Lucy Maud Gurr and the younger brother of Arthur Hinman. He was educated at Launceston Church Grammar School. Hinman played with North Launceston in the Northern Tasmanian Football Association (NTFA) and was voted club champion for the 1910 season. He then moved to Victoria to pursue his law studies and played with University in the Victorian Football League (VFL). George Wheeler Hinman
George Wheeler Hinman (November 19, 1864 - March 31, 1927) was an American writer and newspaper publisher. He also served as the president of Marietta College in Ohio from 1913-1918. Biography Hinman was born in Mount Morris, New York in 1864, and graduated from Hamilton College (New York), Hamilton College in New York in 1884. After working at newspapers in Chicago and St. Louis, he obtained a masters and Ph.D. degree from Heidelberg University in 1889. He then joined ''The Sun (New York), The Sun'' in New York, where he remained on the staff for about ten years. Around 1898 he took a position as editor and manager of the ''Chicago Inter Ocean'', and bought a controlling share in the paper in 1906. He sold the paper to H. H. Kohlsaat in 1912. Paul Hinman (born 1959) is a Canadian politician and businessman. He is the former leader of the Wildrose Independence Party of Alberta since 2020 and was formerly the leader of the Wildrose Alliance (2008–2009) and Alberta Alliance Party (2005–2008). He served two terms as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, initially from 2004 to 2008 representing the electoral district of Cardston-Taber-Warner and then from 2009 to 2012 in Calgary-Glenmore.
