Battle Of Hilli
The Battle of Hilli or the Battle of Bogura was a major battle fought in the Bangladesh Liberation War. It is generally regarded as the most severe pitched battle that took place in East Pakistan, now Bangladesh. The battle of Hilli took place between 23 November 1971 and 11 December 1971, although the final surrender took place on 18 December 1971. The battle The main objective of the Indian Army was to control Bogura, thereby cutting off Pakistan forces in the north from the rest of East Pakistan. The best way of getting to Bogura was through Hilli. The frontal assault on the Pakistan fortifications took a huge toll on both sides before Indian forces finally broke through by establishing a block in the rear of Pakistani forces in Hilli, upon which the 4FF Battalion in Hilli withdrew for the defence of Bogura. Jamāl ad-Dīn al-Ḥasan bin Yūsuf bin ʿAli bin al-Muṭahhar al-Ḥillī ( ar, جمال الدين الحسن بن يوسف الحلي; December 1250 – December 1325 CE), commonly known as Allāma Ḥelli ( fa, علامه حلی), was a Twelver Shia theologian and ''mujtahid''. He was one of the well known Shia scholars of his time. His full name is Jamāl ad-Dīn Abu Manṣūr al-Ḥasan bin Yūsuf ibn al-Muṭahhar al-Ḥillī. We know of at least one hundred books written by him, some of which are still in the form of manuscripts. Muhammad bin Al-Hassan al Hurr Al- Amili in his work ''Amal al Amil'', p. 40, enumerated no less than 67 works of this learned author. Mariam Mohamed Hadi Al Hilli (born March 17, 1984) is a Bahraini Olympic athlete, who specialises in the 100 metres sprint. She was one of the two Bahraini women to participate in the Sydney Olympics in 2000 on behalf of the Middle Eastern island, the other being Fatema Hameed Gerashi. At the time of her participation in the Olympics, she held the record for her event (running) in the Persian Gulf. Sebastian Hilli (born 20 May 1990 in Helsinki) is a Finnish composer. Hilli studied composition at the Sibelius Academy and at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Lauri Kilpiö, Michael Jarrell and Veli-Matti Puumala. Hilli's works are published exclusively by Schott Music.
