Highway H20 (Ukraine)
H20 is an important Ukraine national highway ( H-highway) in the Donetsk Oblast, Donbas, Ukraine, running mainly north–south and connecting Sloviansk though Donetsk with Mariupol on the shores of Taganrog Bay in the Sea of Azov near the mouth of the Kalmius River. It passes through Kramatorsk, Druzhkivka, Oleksijevo-Druzhkivka & Osykove, Kostiantynivka, Berestok, Romanivka, Kamianka in Yasynuvats’kyi, Makiivka, Donetsk, Dolya in Volnovas'kyi, Syhnal'ne-Olenivka in Marinskyi, Berezove in Marinskyi, Novotroits'ke in Volnovas'kyi, Buhas, Volnovakha, Dmytrivka, Polkove, Pryvil'ne, Hranitne, and Kasyanivka in Telmanove Raion. Sloviansk
Sloviansk ( uk, Слов'янськ, Sloviansk ; russian: Славянск, Slavyansk or ; prior to 1784 – Tor) is a city in the Kramatorsk district of the Donetsk region of Ukraine, the administrative center of the Slovyansk urban community. The city lies in the north of the region, in the valley of the Kazennyi Torets river. As of July 2022, the population of the city was around 24,000. Sloviansk was one of the focal points in the early stages of the 2014 pro-Russian conflict in Ukraine as it was the first city to be seized by Russia-backed military troops. Marinka Raion
Marinka Raion ( uk, Мар'їнський район; russian: Марьинский район) was a raion (district) of Donetsk Oblast (province) located in eastern Ukraine. Its administrative center was the city of Marinka. The raion was abolished on 18 July 2020 as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Donetsk Oblast to eight, of which only five were controlled by the government. The last estimate of the raion population was . The district was created on February 19, 1923 as part of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. Its population was 90,045 as of the 2001 Ukrainian Census. Berezove, Marinka Raion
__NOTOC__ Berezove ( uk, Березове; russian: link=no, Берёзовое) is a village in Volnovakha Raion ( district) in Donetsk Oblast of eastern Ukraine, at about southwest ( SW) of the centre of Donetsk city. It belongs to Vuhledar urban ''hromada'', one of the ''hromada''s of Ukraine. The War in Donbas, that started in mid-April 2014, brought both civilian and military casualties. In a clash between Ukrainian and pro-Russian troops, that took place near the village on 10 November 2014, three Ukrainian servicemen were killed and three others wounded. Ocheretyne
Ocheretyne ( uk, Очеретине) is an urban-type settlement in Pokrovsk Raion, Donetsk Oblast, eastern Ukraine. Its population is approximately History Ocheretyne was founded in 1880 in connection with the construction of a railway and a station. 169 villagers fought against Nazi soldiers on the fronts of World War II, of whom 78 died on the battlefield, and 121 were awarded orders and medals. Two monuments have been erected on the graves of soldiers who died during the liberation of the village from the Nazi occupiers. A memorial plaque has been erected in honor of fellow villagers who gave their lives for the liberation of the motherland from the Nazis. Volnovakha Bus Attack
The Volnovakha bus attack was an attack on a highway checkpoint near the village of Buhas outside of the Volnovakha municipality in the Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine on 13 January 2015. It resulted in the deaths of 12 passengers of an intercity bus and injuries to 18 others in the area. The attack was the largest single loss of life since the signing of the Minsk Protocol in September 2014, which attempted to halt the War in Donbass. The incident has been labeled an "act of terror" by both the Ukrainian authorities as well as the rebels. Initially, separatists took responsibility for this incident, which they thought was a successful destruction of the Ukrainian roadblock. After the information about civilian bus hit the news, they denied having "even technical possibilities" to shell that area. The War in Donbas, russian: Война на Донбассе was an armed conflict in the Donbas region of Ukraine, part of the broader Russo-Ukrainian War. In March 2014, immediately following the Euromaidan protest movement and subsequent Revolution of Dignity, protests by pro-Russian, anti-government separatist groups arose in the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts of Ukraine, collectively called the Donbas. Telmanove Raion
Telmanove Raion ( uk, Тельманівський район, ) is one of the administrative raions (a ''district'') of Donetsk Oblast, located in southeastern Ukraine. The raion was abolished on 18 July 2020 as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Donetsk Oblast to eight. However, since 2014 much of the raion was not under control of Ukrainian government and has been part of the Donetsk People's Republic which continues using it as an administrative unit.
