Hightower, Texas
Hightower is an unincorporated community in Liberty County, Texas, United States. It is a geographic area without official borders, centered on the intersection of FM 787 and FM 2518. It contains small farms, pastures, ranchettes, timber plantations, individual residential lots, small Protestant churches, and a Georgia Pacific lumber mill. Etymology In 1899, the area became an official place named Lamb when it received a mail stop on the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway (now BNSF Railway). The name Lamb was taken from the last name of its first postmaster, Charles C. Lamb. The area was rechristened Hightower in 1912 in honor of district judge Lewis B. Silsbee is a town in Hardin County, Texas, United States. This city is 21 miles north of Beaumont. The population was 6,935 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Beaumont–Port Arthur metropolitan area. Geography Silsbee is located in eastern Hardin County at (30.348095, –94.180220). Cleveland is a city in the U.S. state of Texas, within Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan area and Liberty County. The population was 7,471 at the 2020 census. History In 1854, a church and convent were built by Father Peter La Cour near the town's present site. The town began forming in 1878 when Charles Lander Cleveland, a local judge, donated of land to the Houston East & West Texas Railway (now part of the Union Pacific Railroad) for use as a stop, requesting that the town be named for him.
