Highpoint (film)
''Highpoint'' is a Canadian 1982 action comedy-thriller film directed by Peter Carter and starring Richard Harris, Christopher Plummer and Beverly D'Angelo. The film was shot on location in Montreal and Toronto, and is perhaps best remembered for its climax atop CN Tower, in which stuntman Dar Robinson (doubling for Plummer) makes the 700-foot jump in freefall, protected only by a hidden parachute. The film underwent a lengthy and troubled post-production period. Originally filmed in 1979 as a comedic thriller in the vein of ''North by Northwest'', the film was shelved for two years during which extensive reshoots took place. The film was given a limited release in Europe in 1982. Due to negative critical and audience reception concerning its convoluted plot and poor pacing, the film was heavily re-edited by North American distributor New World Pictures, removing much of the comedy and replacing John Addison's original score with one by Christopher Young. Peter Carter (director)
Peter Carter (December 8, 1933 - June 3, 1982) was a British-Canadian film and television director. Best known as the director of ''The Rowdyman'' and ''Klondike Fever'', he garnered a Genie Award nomination for Best Director at the 1st Genie Awards in 1980 for ''Klondike Fever''."Changeling leads Canadian Film Award nominees". Peter Donat
Peter Donat (born Pierre Collingwood Donat; January 20, 1928 – September 10, 2018) was a Canadian-American actor. Early life Pierre Collingwood Donat was born in Kentville, Nova Scotia, Canada, the son of Marie (née Bardet) and Philip Ernst Donat, a landscape gardener. Richard Donat, who starred on the television show '' Haven'', is Peter's younger brother. His uncle was Oscar winning British actor Robert Donat. Peter Donat emigrated to the United States in 1950, studied drama at Yale University, and first came to attention as a stage actor in the lead of a production of ''Cyrano de Bergerac''. In 1961, he played a leading role in Donald Jack's stage play ''The Canvas Barricade'', the first Canadian play performed at the Stratford Festival.
