Highlands Ranch High School
Highlands Ranch High School, commonly referred to as Ranch or HRHS, is a public high school in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. It is part of the Douglas County School District. History Highlands Ranch opened in 1987 as the third high school in the district, after Douglas County High School in Castle Rock and Ponderosa High School in Parker. It was the first high school in Highlands Ranch. The rapid population growth in northern Douglas County has resulted in the opening of three other high schools in the area since Highlands Ranch High School opened. Sports Highlands Ranch High School participates at the 5A level in the Colorado Continental League conference. HRHS girls' basketball has had a long-standing dominance in Colorado. Highlands Ranch is an unincorporated community and a census-designated place (CDP) located in and governed by Douglas County, Colorado, United States. The CDP is a part of the Denver–Aurora–Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population of the Highlands Ranch CDP was 105,631 at the United States Census 2020, making it the most populous unincorporated community in the State of Colorado. Brian "Horse" Johnson (born April 6, 1979) is a former American football fullback who played five seasons with the San Jose SaberCats of the Arena Football League (AFL). He played college football at the University of New Mexico. College career Johnson played college football for the New Mexico Lobos. He was a four-year collegiate letterman and three-year starter for the Lobos. He was also a two-time first-team All-Mountain West Conference defensive lineman selection. Ann Elise Strother (born December 11, 1983) is an American basketball coach, and former professional player, most recently for the Indiana Fever. Strother played at the collegiate level for the Connecticut Huskies, helping the team to two national titles. Early life Strother spent her childhood in eastern Iowa. Her family moved to Castle Rock, Colorado when she was in 8th grade. Strother was introduced to basketball by her father Kenneth, who played at the University of Northern Iowa for a semester. Brad Stisser (born September 24, 1986) is a retired American soccer player. Career College and Amateur Stisser grew up in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and attended Highlands Ranch High School, where he captained his team in his senior season, and was named to the Colorado All-State 5A First Team, the Colorado High School Coaches Association Second Team, and the Colorado Second Team All-State squad. He began his college soccer career at Coastal Carolina University before transferring to Loyola Marymount University as a sophomore in 2006. Daniel Robert Schlereth (born May 9, 1986) is an American former professional baseball pitcher who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Detroit Tigers.
