Electoral Ward
A ward is a local authority area, typically used for electoral purposes. In some countries, wards are usually named after neighbourhoods, thoroughfares, parishes, landmarks, geographical features and in some cases historical figures connected to the area (e.g. William Morris Ward in the London Borough of Waltham Forest, England). It is common in the United States for wards to simply be numbered. Origins The word “ward”, for an electoral subdivision, appears to have originated in the Wards of the City of London, where gatherings for each ward known as “wardmotes” have taken place since the 12th century. Richard Arthur (British Politician)
Richard Andrew Arthur (born 24 March 1944) is a former Labour politician in England. He was the Leader of Camden London Borough Council from 1993 to 2000 and a councillor for Bloomsbury (1971–1974), Belsize (1974–1976) and Highgate (1990–2002). Personal life Arthur was born in 24 March 1944 to Cicely Gertrude Arthur (née Blackman, 11 May 1905 – July 1996) and Cyril Stuart Arthur (15 January 1907 – 31 March 1986). He has an MA in Economics from Cambridge and an MSc in Business from the London Business School. Arthur married Diana Thompson in 1968 and the couple had one son and one daughter before being divorced. In 1986 he married again to Akiko Shindo. Arthur lives in Highgate, London. The ''Camden New Journal'' is a British independent newspaper published in the London Borough of Camden. It was launched by editor Eric Gordon (who died on 5 April 2021, aged 89) in 1982 following a two-year strike at its predecessor, the ''Camden Journal''. The newspaper was supported by campaigning journalist Paul Foot and former Holborn and St Pancras MP Frank Dobson. Sally Gimson
Sally Gimson (née Malcolm-Smith) is a British Labour Party politician, ex-councillor in the Highgate ward of Camden Council. Career Gimson graduated from the University of Cambridge in 1987 with a degree in Modern Languages, before training as a journalist. Until her election to Camden Council she was Head of Public Policy at Victim Support, and she was previously Director of Communications at the Family and Parenting Institute. Sally Gimson was an unsuccessful parliamentary candidate in the South Leicestershire constituency in the 2010 General Election. She served in the council cabinet as the chief of adult health and social care until she challenged Council leader Sarah Hayward losing by 24 votes to 15, subsequently returning to the backbenches. Camden London Borough Council is the local authority for the London Borough of Camden in Greater London, England. It is a London borough council, one of 32 in the United Kingdom capital of London. Dartmouth Park is a district of north west London in the Borough of Camden, north of Charing Cross. The area adjoins Highgate and Highgate Cemetery (to the north) and Kentish Town (to the south). 2022 Camden London Borough Council Election
The 2022 Camden London Borough Council election took place on 5 May 2022. All 55 members of Camden London Borough Council were elected. The elections took place alongside local elections in the other London boroughs and elections to local authorities across the United Kingdom. In the previous election in 2018, the Labour Party maintained its control of the council, winning 43 out of the 54 seats with the Conservative Party forming the primary opposition with seven of the remaining seats. The Liberal Democrats and Green Party were also elected to the council, with three seats and one seat respectively. The 2022 election took place under new election boundaries, which increased the number of councillors to 55. Labour held control of the council, winning 47 seats.
