High Taunus
The High Taunus (german: Hoher Taunus) is the name of a major natural region unit (no. 301) in the Hessian Central Uplands range of the Taunus mountains and forms the area immediately around the main ridge of the Taunus. It should not be confused with the term Hochtaunus, in the sense used in the name of the county of Hochtaunuskreis which is only the eastern part of the Feldberg massif. The High Taunus separates the Anterior Taunus in the south from the Lower Taunus in the north and includes the majority of the highest mountains and hills of the Taunus. The eastern part of the natural region lies within the Taunus Nature Park and its western part in the Rhine-Taunus Nature Park. Wetterau
The Wetterau is a fertile undulating tract, watered by the Wetter, a tributary of the Nidda River, in the western German state of Hesse, between the hilly province Oberhessen and the north-western Taunus mountains. Bettina von Arnim writes of Wetterau in her text ''Diary of a Child'' in the chapter "Journey to the Wetterau". Geography The Wetterau is located north of Frankfurt am Main, on the eastern side of the Taunus and south-west of the Vogelsberg. The main part of the region is taken up by the political region Wetteraukreis. Altkönig
The Altkönig is the third highest mountain of the Taunus range in Hesse, Germany, reaching a height of . Its summit is lies within the borough of Kronberg im Taunus not far from the village of Königstein im Taunus which is part of Falkenstein in the Hessian county of Hochtaunuskreis. With an isolation of 2,450 metres and a prominence of over 136 metres above saddle at the Fuchstanz () leading to the Kleiner Feldberg (), the Altkönig is one of the most striking peaks in the Taunus. Together with the Großer Feldberg () and Kleiner Feldberg it forms the crown of the High Taunus ( Feldberg-Taunus ridge); unlike the Feldberg, however, it does not lie on the main ridge itself but rises to the south and parallel with it. Schläferskopf
The Schläferskopf is a hill in Hesse, Germany, which is 454 metres high. Kaiser Wilhelm Tower In 1883, a 10-metre-high, wooden viewing tower was built on the summit of the Schläferskopf; it fell into disrepair and was demolished in 1900. In 1905, on the initiative of the Wiesbaden Conservation Society, work on a 31-metre-high tower was begun and, in July 1906, the new ''Kaiser Wilhelm Turm'' (formerly also the ''Kaiser Wilhelm II.-Turm'') was opened. It was made from local rubble stone and basalt lava with a room for "refuge and refreshing". Typical of the period it was designed to resemble a medieval fighting tower or ''bergfried''. The watchtower turret on the polygonal platform reinforces the impression. One unusual feature is the double spiral staircase which enables a separation between "up" and "down" stairs. Main-Taunus is an electoral constituency (German: ''Wahlkreis'') represented in the Bundestag. It elects one member via first-past-the-post voting. Under the current constituency numbering system, it is designated as constituency 181. Rüdesheim am Rhein is a German winemaking town in the Rhine Gorge, and part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site in this region.
