High Country Tour
The High Country Tour was an concert tour by American heavy metal band the Sword. Staged in support of the band's 2015 fifth studio album '' High Country'', the tour visited venues worldwide in 2015 and 2016. Comprising six legs and 111 shows, the tour began in Trondheim, Norway at the Pstereo Festival on August 21, 2015 and concluded on May 28, 2016 in Dallas, Texas. Background The opening European leg of the High Country Tour was detailed in tandem with the official announcement of the album on June 2, 2015, with the news also stating that the band would continue touring throughout 2015 and 2016. A few days before the release of the album and the beginning of the tour, two legs of North American dates were added starting on October 9, 2015 in Dallas, including appearances at the festivals Knotfest and Aftershock; support acts were announced as Kadavar and All Them Witches for the first leg, and Royal Thunder for the second. The Sword
The Sword was an American heavy metal band from Austin, Texas. Formed in 2003, the band was composed of vocalist and guitarist John D. Cronise, guitarist Kyle Shutt, bassist Bryan Richie and drummer Santiago "Jimmy" Vela III for most of its tenure. Originally signed to Kemado Records, the group released its debut album '' Age of Winters'' in 2006, the material for which had been largely written by Cronise (who also produced the album) prior to the band's formation. '' Gods of the Earth'' (which was also produced by the band's frontman) was released two years later, giving the group its first entry on the US ''Billboard'' 200 chart when it reached number 102. In 2010, the band released ''Warp Riders'', a concept album centered on an original science fiction narrative written primarily by Cronise, which marked the first time the group had enlisted an external producer in Matt Bayles.
