High Council Of The Judiciary (Italy)
The High Council of the Judiciary ( it, Consiglio superiore della magistratura, or CSM) is an Italian institution of constitutional importance, which regulates the Ordinary Judiciary of Italy. The High Council is based in the Palazzo dei Marescialli, in Piazza Indipendenza 6. History The council was first named in Article 4 of law 511 of 1907, which instituted it along with the Ministry of Justice, essentially as a consultative organ, with a largely administrative role in the naming of individual officials within the judiciary. A few months later, Giovanni Giolitti's government passed law 689 of 1907 which defined the new council. Although, obviously, it was to run the judiciary in the name of King of Italy, its members were arranged as dependents of the government. The Consiglio di Stato ( en, Council of State) is a legal-administrative consultative body that ensures the legality of public administration in Italy. The Five Star Movement ( it, Movimento 5 Stelle , M5S) is a political party in Italy. Its leader and president is Giuseppe Conte, Prime Minister of Italy from 2018 until 2021. The M5S was founded on 4 October 2009 by Beppe Grillo, a comedian and blogger, and Gianroberto Casaleggio, a web strategist. David Ermini (born 1 November 1959) is an Italian lawyer and politician, current vice president of the High Council of the Judiciary. Biography He studied at the Italian Liceo classico in Figline Valdarno, having Maurizio Sarri as his deskmate. Subsequently, he graduated in law at the University of Florence, Ermini began to work as a criminal lawyer. He entered politics in the late 1970s and became a city councilor of his hometown Figline Valdarno, elected with the Christian Democracy. A joint session or joint convention is, most broadly, when two normally separate decision-making groups meet, often in a special session or other extraordinary meeting, for a specific purpose. Most often it refers to when both houses of a bicameral legislature sit together. A joint session typically occurs to receive foreign or domestic diplomats or leaders, or to allow both houses to consider bills together. Some constitutions give special power to a joint session, voting by majority of all members of the legislature regardless of which house or chamber they belong to. For example, in Switzerland a joint session of the two houses elects the members of the Federal Council (cabinet).
