is a List of towns in Japan, town located in Kimotsuki District, Kagoshima, Kimotsuki District, Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan. Demographics As of 2005, the town has an estimated population of 7,122 and in 2003 the population density, density was measured at 265.22 persons per km².Town Census Report, 2010 町勢要覧 2010年 Appendix page one The total area is 27.69 km². Approximately 2,367 of the residents are elderly or senior citizens, while 877 children live in Higashikushira. Slightly more than half of the population (3,771 people) are women. As of 2005 (Heisei 平成 17) there are 3,265 households in Higashikushira. Over the last 20 years the population has decreased by about 1,000 people, down from 8,119 in 1991. Geography Higashikushira is located on the east coast of the Ōsumi Peninsula in Kagoshima Prefecture.
