Hezi Bezalel
Hezi Bezalel (born 1951) is an Israeli businessman. He is active mostly in Israel, the US, Britain, India, and various countries in Africa. He serves as the Honorary Consul of Rwanda in Israel. Biography Bezalel was born in Basra, Iraq and moved with his family to Israel when he was 5 years old. The family settled in the Or Yehuda Absorption Camp, and later on moved to Ramat Gan. During his military service, he served as a tank commander in the Yom Kippur War. He later began his Economics studies at the Tel Aviv University. Following the completion of his M.A in Economics, he began teaching at the Tel Aviv University as well as the Ben Gurion University in Be'er Sheva. He worked as Prof. Haim Ben Shachar's teaching assistant and initiated his PhD studies in London. Hezi Eshel
Yechezkel (Hezi) Eshel (January 4, 1931 - November 28, 2016) was a lieutenant colonel in the Israel Defense Forces who served in command duties in the Givati and Golani brigades, as well as in administrative duties in the IDF headquarters ("Matkal"). Biography Eshel was born Yechezkel Batat in Baghdad, Iraq. He immigrated with his family to Israel in 1936. Military career At age 16 he joined the Suburban Hish, where he was sent to man defence posts in Tel Aviv and Hartuv. Following the November 1947 UN Partition Resolution, when he was still under 17 years of age, he joined the Haganah, and was assigned to the Givati (1948) brigade, at the very day that it was established. He was positioned in the 53rd Battalion, commanded by Yitzhak Pundak. Hezi Leskali
Hezy Leskly ( he, חזי לסקלי; July 26, 1952 – May 26, 1994) was an Israeli poet, choreographer, painter and dance critic. Biography Yehezkel (Hezy) Leskly was born in Rehovot to Czech-Jewish parents who survived the Holocaust. His father’s first wife and child were murdered. The family moved to Givatayim early in his childhood. Leskly wrote his first poems at 14 and published in magazines at the age of 18. At age 22, Leskly moved to The Hague in the Netherlands where he studied dancing and art. He worked as a painter and a choreographer, and published four books of poems. One of his most widely known works was ''Dutch Poetry - Four Imagined Dutch Poets and a Nonexistent Israeli Poet,'' published in 1992. Leskly was among the first Israelis to identify as gay and was active in many LGBT organisations. The primary topics of Leskly's poetry were homosexual life and dance. The Medical Corps ( he, חֵיל הָרְפוּאָה, ''Heil HaRfu'a'') is an Israel Defense Forces corps responsible for providing healthcare services and medical treatment and instruction to all levels of the IDF. History During wars or emergencies, the Medical Corps also assumes authority over the civilian healthcare system in Israel. The corps attends to the planning, organization, and supervision over the preparedness of the healthcare system to face crises. As of 2014, the corps is headed by Brigadier General Dr. Dudu Dagan. Hezi Shai
Hezi Shai ( he, חזי שי, born 1954) is a former tank commander in the Israeli Defense Forces. During the 1982 Lebanon War, he was one of five Israeli soldiers declared missing in action after their tanks were hit during the Battle of Sultan Yacoub. Shai and his tank crew became separated and he walked into a camp of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – General Command, a pro-Syria Palestinian militant organization headed by Ahmed Jibril. He was taken captive and smuggled into Syria. His whereabouts and even the fact that he was alive were unknown to the Israeli defense establishment for the next two and a half years. Later a nephew of Jibril captured by the Israelis hinted to Shai's existence.
