Heydar Mosque
Heydar Mosque ( az, Heydər Məscidi) is an Azerbaijani mosque named after Heydar Aliyev (who preceded his son as president of Azerbaijan), in the Binəqədi raion of Baku. It officially opened on 26 December 2014. The mosque covers a total area of 12,000 m2 and the internal area of the building covers a total area of 4,200 square meters. Verses from The Quran are written on the side of the mosque's domes. The Caucasian Muslim Office appointed Imam Hafiz Abbasov and Akhund Rufet Garayev for the Sunni and Shia sects, respectively. Mubariz Gurbanli, the Chairman to the State Committee on Religious Associations of the Republic of Azerbaijan said that Heydar Mosque is a separate complex. Binəqədi raion (also, Binagadi, Binagady, Binaghad, and Bonogady) is a raion in Baku, Azerbaijan. The rayon has a population of 240,800, of which 112,000 is in the municipality. Binagadi district (former Kirov region) is located in Baku administrative area and is located 10.5 km from the city center, in the North-West of the Absheron Peninsula. Territory is 147,06 sq. M, administrative center is M. Rasulzadeh settlement. Haji Allahshükür Hummat Pashazade ( az, Allahşükür Hümmət Paşazadə) is the Sheikh ul-Islam and Grand Mufti of the Caucasus which includes the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Georgia, and Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkaria, Ingushetia, Chechnya, Karachay–Cherkessia, and Adygea in the Russian Federation.
