Hexagon (album)
Hexagon is the sixth studio album by American alternative rock band Filligar. It was released in July 2013 in the United States and September 2013 in the United Kingdom. The title refers to the shape of the cube on the cover, rendered as a hexagon in 2D space. The album was written in piecemeal while the band was touring in support of their previous album The Nerve (album), ''The Nerve''. Most of the actual recording was done at Electrical Audio in Chicago. Reception The album received mixed reviews. Mack Hayden of ''Paste (magazine), Paste'' described the album as "a fun time" that "isn’t going to make any headlines". ''Connect Savannah'' magazine described it as having "real soul". Filligar
Filligar is an alternative rock band made up of Johnny, Teddy and Pete Mathias and childhood friend Casey Gibson. Filligar has a prolific catalog of original music, recognized as “of prestige value” by the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP). The band has been called “a fresh take on indie rock” by Paste Magazine, one of music’s “Next Big Things” by SPIN and “a breath of fresh air” by Consequence of Sound. Electrical Audio is a recording studio, recording facility founded in Chicago, Illinois by musician and recording engineer Steve Albini in 1997. Hundreds of independent music projects have been recorded there. Unlike most producers, Albini refuses to take any royalties from musicians who record at the studio. Founded during an era of increasing popularity for digital recording, Electrical Audio was unusual for using only analog recording technology, including mixing consoles, tape recorders and many outboard sound effects. The rooms are also designed to offer natural reverberation rather than adding the quality in post-production. In a 2007 post on the studio's message board, the studio's technician Greg Norman revealed that the studio had acquired a Pro Tools rig for computer-aided recording and editing, saying it had become "as important to have as a piano". Wilco
Wilco is an American alternative rock band based in Chicago, Illinois. The band was formed in 1994 by the remaining members of alternative country group Uncle Tupelo following singer Jay Farrar's departure. Wilco's lineup changed frequently during its first decade, with only singer Jeff Tweedy and bassist John Stirratt remaining from the original incarnation. Since early 2004, the lineup has been unchanged, consisting of Tweedy, Stirratt, guitarist Nels Cline, multi-instrumentalist Pat Sansone, keyboard player Mikael Jorgensen, and drummer Glenn Kotche.
