Heterorrhina Elegans
''Heterorhina elegans'' is a species of Scarabaeidae, Scarab beetle found in India and Sri Lanka that belongs to the flower chafer subfamily. Its genus name is frequently misspelled as "''Heterorrhina''". The adults are about 2 to 3 cm long and are usually bright glassy green appearing reddish at some angles. The Clypeus (arthropod anatomy), clypeus is narrow and there is a ridge along the middle. They are seen in aggregations made up of large numbers in southern India during June to October. Description Adult beetles are emerald green with some varieties blue, red (var. ''fulgidissima''), indigo, or black (var. ''anthracina''). The sides of the hind Arthropod coxa, coxae are orange. Johan Christian Fabricius
Johan Christian Fabricius (7 January 1745 – 3 March 1808) was a Danish zoologist, specialising in "Insecta", which at that time included all arthropods: insects, arachnids, crustaceans and others. He was a student of Carl Linnaeus, and is considered one of the most important entomologists of the 18th century, having named nearly 10,000 species of animals, and established the basis for the modern insect classification. Biography Johan Christian Fabricius was born on 7 January 1745 at Tønder in the Duchy of Schleswig, where his father was a doctor. He studied at the gymnasium at Altona and entered the University of Copenhagen in 1762.
