Herschel S. Green
Herschel S. Green (December 28, 1897 – April 1, 1962) was an American lawyer and politician. Green was born on a farm near Hutsonville, Illinois. He went to the Crawford County, Illinois public schools. He served in the United States Navy during World War I. Green received his bachelor's and law degrees from University of Illinois. Green was admitted to the Illinois and Michigan bars. Herschel lived with his wife Madge Miller Green and their family in Palestine, Illinois. Green served in the Illinois House of Representatives from 1947 to 1957 and in the Illinois Senate from 1957 until his death in 1962. Green died from a heart attack at the Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, Illinois. Hutsonville is a village in Crawford County, Illinois, United States. The population was 478 at the 2020 census. Geography Hutsonville is located in northeastern Crawford County at (39.109142, -87.659262), along the Wabash River. Its eastern border is formed by the river, which is also the Indiana state line. The main east-west street through the village is Clover Street, which crosses the river to become Indiana State Road 154, which leads east to Sullivan, Indiana. Clover Street leads west to Illinois Route 1, which runs north to Marshall and south to Lawrenceville. Hutsonville's Main Street leads south as County Route 5, to Palestine. Crawford County, Illinois
Crawford County is a county located in the U.S. state of Illinois. As of the 2010 census, the population was 19,817. Its county seat is Robinson. History Crawford County was formed in the Illinois Territory on December 31, 1816, out of Edwards County. At the time of its formation, it encompassed about one third of the territory, but it was reduced to its present borders by 1831 as it spawned new counties. It was named in honor of William H. Crawford, from Georgia, who was serving as Secretary of War and Secretary of the Treasury at the time. Crawford County was home to several battles between the settlers and Indians, and also the location of the only woman ever hanged in Illinois.
