Herresta
Herresta is a large estate in Södermanland County in Sweden, located outside Mariefred. It has been in the possession of the Paus family since 1923. The manor lies beautifully adjacent to Herrestaviken, which was previously connected to Mälaren. Previous owners include Admiral Baron Jonas Fredrik Örnfelt. He built the main house in stone in 1718, using Russian prisoners of war. Count Johan Georg Lillienberg, who was Governor of Uppsala and President of the Appellate Court, among other offices, extended the manor substantially. In 1810, Herresta was sold to wealthy Stockholm businessman Carl Adolph Grevesmühl. His descendants sold the manor to the Norwegian count Christopher de Paus in 1923. Paus
The Paus family () is a Norwegian family that first appeared as members of the elite of 16th-century Oslo and that for centuries belonged to Norway's "aristocracy of officials" as priests of the state church, judges and other higher government officials, especially in Upper Telemark. The family is particularly known for its close association with Henrik Ibsen. Two brothers from Oslo who both became priests, Hans (1587–1648) and Peder Povelsson Paus (1590–1653), have long been known as the family's earliest certain ancestors. In his book ''Slekten Paus'', S.H. Finne-Grønn traced the family two further generations back, to Hans Olufsson (died 1570), a high-ranking member of the royal clergy. Christopher De Paus
Christopher Tostrup Paus, Count of Paus (10 September 1862 – 10 September 1943) was a Norwegian landowner, heir to the timber firm Tostrup & Mathiesen, papal chamberlain and count, known as philanthropist, art collector and socialite in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He inherited a fortune from his grandfather, timber magnate Christopher Tostrup, and lived for decades in Rome; in 1923 he bought the estate Herresta in Sweden which is still owned by descendants of his cousin Herman Paus who was married to a granddaughter of Leo Tolstoy. He gave large donations to museums in Scandinavia and to the Catholic Church. A convert to Catholicism, he was appointed as a papal chamberlain by Pope Benedict XV in 1921 and conferred the title of count by Pope Pius XI in 1923. Johan Georg Lillienberg
Johan Georg Lillienberg (1713 – 26 April 1798) was a Sweden, Swedish count and politician who was appointed as Lawspeaker of Gotland in 1746. In 1749, he became Governor of Åbo and Björneborg, Sweden, Björneborg, and in 1757 Governor of Uppsala County. Lillienberg was made a baron in 1766 and a count in 1778.
In 1768, Lillienberg was elected a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
He died at his manor Herresta in Södermanland.

Carl Adolph Grevesmühl (1744–1827) was a Swedish businessman from Stockholm. His furniture business made him a very rich man. He was commissioned by King Gustav III of Sweden to furnish Stockholm Castle. Södermanland County ( sv, Södermanlands län) is a county or '' län'' on the southeast coast of Sweden. In the local Sörmlandic dialects it is virtually universally shortened and pronounced as Sörmlands län, or simply Sörmland, which is the dominant pronunciation and spelling inside the county. Mariefred
Mariefred is a locality situated in Strängnäs Municipality, Södermanland County, Sweden with 3,726 inhabitants in 2010. The name is derived from that of the former Carthusian monastery here, Mariefred Charterhouse, and means "Peace of Mary" (the former name was Gripsholm). It lies roughly 50 kilometres west of Stockholm. Mariefred, despite its small population, is for historical reasons often still referred to as a ''city''. Statistics Sweden, however, only counts localities with more than 10,000 inhabitants as cities. Gripsholm Castle is located in the town. Mälaren
Mälaren ( , , or ), historically referred to as Lake Malar in English, is the third-largest freshwater lake in Sweden (after Vänern and Vättern). Its area is 1,140 km2 and its greatest depth is 64 m. Mälaren spans 120 kilometers from east to west. The lake drains, from south-west to north-east, into the Baltic Sea through its natural outlets Norrström and Söderström (as it flows around Stadsholmen island) and through the artificial Södertälje Canal and Hammarbyleden waterway.
