Hero Of Labour (GDR)
The title Hero of Labor (german: Held der Arbeit) was awarded by the German Democratic Republic for supporting the socialist economy, usually by increasing factory output or agricultural yields. It was instituted on 19 April 1950 and was limited to 50 awards per year. A cash prize of up to 10,000 Marks was linked to each award. East Germany
East Germany, officially the German Democratic Republic (GDR; german: Deutsche Demokratische Republik, , DDR, ), was a country that existed from its creation on 7 October 1949 until its dissolution on 3 October 1990. Josef Wenig
Josef Wenig (17 July 1896 – 16 April 1981) was a German labour and political activist (KPD). After 1945 he became an important figure in the East German political establishment. He was a member of the ruling party's powerful Central Committee between 1954 and his death in 1981. He was also a member of the country's (less powerful) National Parliament (''"Volkskammer"'') between 1950 and 1981. Life Josef ("Sepp") Wenig was born in Leiter (now Řebří, a part of Svojšín), a small village in the hills to the west of Plzeň in what was, at that time, western Bohemia, part of the Austro-Hungarian empire. Hero Of Labor (North Korea)
Labor Hero () is one of the highest titles of honor of North Korea and the highest decoration of the country overall. The award was probably scheduled for establishment in the summer of 1950, but the Korean War postponed these plans. When the war had entered a phase of stalemate along the 38th parallel, the government had time to officially launch the decoration, originally under the name Korea Hero of Labor. 16 people were decorated Labor Heroes during the war and more since then. The decoration is based on its Soviet equivalent, Hero of Socialist Labour Specifications Hero of Labor is the highest title of honor of North Korea. The Hero of Labor (or Labor Hero) ( vi, Anh hùng lao động) is the highest title of honor in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. It is awarded (possibly posthumously) to individuals or collectives with outstanding achievements in labor. This includes supporting the objective of a strong country and an equitable, democratic, prosperous, and civilized society. Awardees are loyal to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and possess revolutionary virtues and qualities. Solveig Leo
Solveig Leo (born November 1943) is a German farmer and politician who served as Mayor of Banzkow from 1992 to 2009. Biography Leo was born in 1943 in Nazi-occupied Sudetenland. In the aftermath of the war, she and her family were relocated to Thuringia, which was located in the newly formed German Democratic Republic. She completed her apprenticeship as a farmer at the VEG Ludwigshof, which was followed by studies at the Technical School of Agriculture in Weimar. At an agricultural exhibition in Leipzig, her talents were recognized by the Chairman of the LPG Banzkow, who recruited her, and she relocated to Bezirk Schwerin. She joined the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) in 1965 and in January 1968, at just 24 years old and already married with children, she was elected Chairwoman of the LPG 'Clara Zetkin'.
