Hermann Vom Endt
Hermann vom Endt (18 July 1861 – 27 September 1939) was a German architect. Life Born in Dusseldorf, Endt studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf from 1876 to 1878. Baufach und Baukunst under and became a member of the Malkasten (Künstlerverein), Malkasten Künstlerverein. After graduating, he first worked in Berlin as an assistant in the studio of the renowned architects Karl von Großheim, Kayser & von Großheim. Later he travelled to Western Europe, Italy and Denmark for further training. Vom Endt planned more than twenty buildings in Düsseldorf's city centre, mainly commercial and administrative buildings. He also built churches and residential buildings. In addition, he was active as a juror in architectural competitions, on the committee of managing architects of the Association of German Architects. Wilhelminism
The Wilhelmine Period () comprises the period of German history between 1890 and 1918, embracing the reign of Kaiser Wilhelm II in the German Empire from the resignation of Chancellor Otto von Bismarck until the end of World War I and Wilhelm's abdication during the November Revolution. It affected the society, politics, culture, art and architecture of Germany and roughly coincided with the Belle Époque era of Western Europe. Overview The term "Wilhelminism" (''Wilhelminismus'') is not meant as a conception of society associated with the name Wilhelm and traceable to an intellectual initiative of the German Emperor. Stadttheater Düsseldorf
Stadttheater Düsseldorf , later Städtische Bühnen Düsseldorf,was a theatre in Düsseldorf, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Designed by Ernst Giese, it was constructed between 1873 and 1875. History On the site before the construction of the current theatre was the Altes Theater (also Grupellotheater). The name Grupellotheater recalls that the building was the former casting house of the Baroque sculptor Gabriel de Grupello. The old theatre house was used as a theatre as early as 1747, when Charles Theodore, Elector of Bavaria was staying in Düsseldorf. Around 1750 it was in operation as a comedy house. From 1751 onwards, regular theatre performances were given in the house. After Düsseldorf became Prussian, King Frederick William III donated the building, which had previously been state property, to the city of Düsseldorf on 11 April 1818, which henceforth leased it for theatre purposes. Friedrichstraße (Düsseldorf)
The Friedrichstraße () (lit. ''Frederick Street'') is a major culture and shopping street in central Berlin, forming the core of the Friedrichstadt neighborhood and giving the name to Berlin Friedrichstraße station. It runs from the northern part of the old Mitte district (north of which it is called Chausseestraße) to the Hallesches Tor in the district of Kreuzberg. This downtown area is known for its expensive real estate market and the campus of the Hertie School of Governance. Due to its north-southerly direction, it forms important junctions with the east-western axes, most notably with Leipziger Straße and Unter den Linden. The U6 U-Bahn line runs underneath.
