Hermann Kling
Hermann Kling (17 February 1880 - 20 January 1957) was a German politician (Christian Social People's Service, CSVD, Christian Democratic Union of Germany, CDU). Life Hermann Jakob Kling was born in Owen, Germany, Owen, a small protestant town set in the hill countryside of Württemberg, between Stuttgart and Ulm. He was the second of the five recorded children born to Jakob Friedrich Kling (1847–1918) by his marriage to Karoline Luise Obenland / Kling (1853–1936). He attended school locally and then moved on to the :de:Lehrerseminar, Teacher Training college at nearby Nürtingen. After successfully passing through the basic training programme he joined the Württemberg public schools service. Between 1902 and 1903 he taught at Mitteltal near Baiersbronn and Kirchheim unter Teck, Kirchheim. Between 1910 and 1913 Kling undertook university level studies at University of Tübingen, Tübingen. Christian Social People's Service
The Christian Social People's Service (german: Christlich-Sozialer Volksdienst, abbreviated CSVD) was a Protestant conservative political party in the Weimar Republic. The party's genesis lay in Adolf Stockers Christian Social party, which joined the German National People's party in 1918, and effectively functioned as the parties labor wing. The Christian Social Franz Behrens wrote a substantial amount of the DNVP's 1918 platform, however the Christian Socials failed to get the DNVP to endorse trade unions over company unions. The ideological differences over labor rights came to a head when Alfred Hugenberg became leader in 1929 and attacked the employment insurance scheme, which encouraged the Christian socials to consider leaving the party. At the time, the Christian Socials represented the moderate tendency within the DNVP, as opposed to the radical nationalist leadership of Alfred Hugenberg.
