Hermann Hearts Pauline
"Hermann ♥'s Pauline" is the sixth single by Super Furry Animals and the first to be released from their second album ''Radiator''. It reached #26 on the UK Singles Chart on its release in May 1997. Hermann and Pauline are the names of the parents of Albert Einstein, and the song refers to them and the young Albert. The song also mentions Marie Curie and Ernesto Guevera. The song was inspired by the pitstops that the band would take at motorway service stations whilst out on tour, where Gruff Rhys would peruse through bitesized biographies about famous people, such as ''They Died Too Young'' book series. The band had trouble playing the track live and stopped playing it altogether until the '' Phantom Power'' tour when they realised that trying to play along to a click track was the cause of the problem. Super Furry Animals
Super Furry Animals are a Welsh rock band formed in Cardiff in 1993. For the duration of their professional career, the band consisted of Gruff Rhys (lead vocals, guitar), Huw Bunford (lead guitar, vocals), Guto Pryce (bass guitar), Cian Ciaran (keyboards, synthesisers, various electronics, occasional guitar, vocals), Dafydd Ieuan (drums, vocals). Cian Ciaran
Cian Ciarán (born 16 June 1976) is a Welsh musician best known as the keyboard player in the band Super Furry Animals. In addition to keyboards, he plays guitar and drums and sings, and is a songwriter, composer and producer. Career Cian was born in Bangor, Wales. Prior to the formation of Super Furry Animals, he played in the electronica groups Wwzz and Aros Mae. He has been a member of techno collective Acid Casuals and is currently producing under the names Paps, Kirkland and as himself. The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. Guto Dafydd Pryce ( Welsh pronunciation: ; born 4 September 1972) is a Welsh musician best known as bass guitar player and songwriter in the band Super Furry Animals. With them he has recorded nine UK Albums Chart Top 25 studio albums, plus numerous singles, EPs, compilations and collaborations. Huw Bunford
Huw "Bunf" Bunford (born Huw Cennydd Bunford; 15 September 1967 in Cardiff, Wales) is a musician best known as the guitarist in Super Furry Animals. Biography Bunford studied at Lanchester Polytechnic (now Coventry University) and worked as a teacher. His last teaching position was Head of Art at Ysgol Gyfun Rhydfelen near Pontypridd. From 1989 he played with Guto Pryce in the punk band U Thant, before they both joined Super Furry Animals. Bunford's first band was the Welsh language school band Edrych am Jiwlia which was formed in Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf, Cardiff. Hywel Dda, sometimes anglicised as Howel the Good, or Hywel ap Cadell (died 949/950) was a king of Deheubarth who eventually came to rule most of Wales. He became the sole king of Seisyllwg in 920 and shortly thereafter established Deheubarth, and proceeded to gain control over the entire country from Prestatyn to Pembroke. As a descendant of Rhodri Mawr through his father Cadell, Hywel was a member of the Dinefwr branch of the dynasty.
