Hermann Gösmann
Hermann Gösmann (9 January 1904 – 21 January 1979) was a German lawyer and football administrator, and from 1962 to 1975 he was president of the German Football Association (german: Deutscher Fußball-Bund, DFB). Gösmann participated along with Franz Kremer, then president of 1. FC Köln, and Hermann Neuberger, the eventual successor from Gösmann, in the founding of the Bundesliga. Gösmann was a lawyer by profession. He was elected president during a ''DFB-Bundestag'' on July 28, 1962 in the Westfalenhallen in Dortmund. Also during this Bundestag the Bundesliga was founded. The Bundesliga scandal in the 1970s was during his tenure. Gösmann had offices in international sport. In 1964, he was elected to the ''UEFA Executive Committee'' and took over as chair in the ''UEFA Amateur Commission''. Four years later Gösmann was reelected. 1974 FIFA World Cup Final
The 1974 FIFA World Cup Final was the final match of the 1974 FIFA World Cup, the 10th FIFA World Cup, a competition to determine the world champion among national men's football sides. The match was contested by the Netherlands and West Germany, with West Germany winning 2–1. The Netherlands opened the scoring via a Johan Neeskens penalty in the second minute, only for Paul Breitner to equalise with another penalty in the 25th minute before Gerd Müller scored the winning goal in the 43rd minute, claiming West Germany's second FIFA World Cup. Five German players (Sepp Maier, Franz Beckenbauer, Wolfgang Overath, Jürgen Grabowski and Horst-Dieter Höttges) became the first in history to have won gold, silver and bronze medals at the FIFA World Cup. The Bundesliga scandal (''der Bundesliga-Skandal'') refers to the malicious, for-profit manipulation of games in the 1970–71 German football championship season. History The manipulation of games was revealed when the president of Kickers Offenbach, Horst-Gregorio Canellas, presented an audio-tape to DFB officials and a few journalists at his 50th birthday garden-party. In that tape, several players, including German internationals Bernd Patzke and Manfred Manglitz, could be heard offering to let themselves be bribed to help Offenbach avoid relegation. The chief prosecutor of the DFB, Hans Kindermann, found out that, amongst others, the 17 April 1971 game between FC Schalke and Arminia Bielefeld that ended 0–1, had been "sold" (or thrown) by Schalke's players and the board of directors.
