Hermann Baumann (musician)
Hermann Baumann (born 1 August 1934) is a German horn player. Biography After starting his musical career as a singer and jazz drummer he switched to horn at the age of 17. He studied with Fritz Huth at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg and then played principal horn in various orchestras for 12 years, including the Dortmunder Philharmoniker and the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra. His career as a soloist started in 1964 when he won first prize in the prestigious ARD International Music Competition in Munich. Since then he has played on many solo and chamber albums, including ''Virtuoso Horn'', released in 2004. He has done pioneering work in Baroque music and also in the revival of performance on the natural horn of the classical period. Historic Brass Society
Founded in 1988, The Historic Brass Society (HBS) is an international music organization whose goal is to promote the exchange of serious ideas about the history and performance of brass instruments and music, ranging from Antiquity through the twentieth century. Overview The Society was created by participants in the annual Early Brass Festival, founded in 1985, in Amherst, Massachusetts. In a short time the Society grew in size and initiated an ambitious publishing program. Since 1989, it has produced an annual peer-reviewed journal, the Historic Brass Society Journal and in 2021 began publishing a twice-annual e-zine, Historic Brass Today. Essen

The Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra (German: ''Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart des SWR'') was a German radio orchestra based in Stuttgart in Germany. History The ensemble was founded in 1945 by American occupation authorities as the orchestra for Radio Stuttgart, under the name ''Sinfonieorchester von Radio Stuttgart'' (Symphony Orchestra of Radio Stuttgart). The radio network later became the Süddeutscher Rundfunk (SDR, South German Radio), and the orchestra changed its name in 1949 to the ''Sinfonieorchester des Süddeutschen Rundfunks'' (South German Radio Symphony Orchestra).
