Herman Teodor Holmgren
Herman Teodor Holmgren (31 March 1842 – 24 May 1914) was a Sweden, Swedish architect. Biography He was born in Östad in Älvsborg County, Sweden. Holmgren studied at the architecture school of the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts 1863-1871, traveled on a scholarship from the Academy to Germany, France and Italy. He was employed as an architect in the First Surveyor's Office (''Överintendentsämbetet''), precursor of the current Swedish National Property Board from 1871 and was appointed surveyor for the Crown buildings in Stockholm in 1897. He became a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts in 1887. He died 1914 in Stockholm. Holmgren's most important work is the University Hall (Uppsala University), University Hall of Uppsala University, but he has also designed the building for the Sundsvalls enskilda bank (Sundsvall), the County Governor's residence in Jönköping (begun by Johan Fredrik Åbom), the County Administration buildings in Falun and Luleå and the deaf- ... Falun
Falun () is a city and the seat of Falun Municipality in Dalarna County, Sweden, with 37,291 inhabitants in 2010. It is also the capital of Dalarna County. Falun forms, together with Borlänge, a metropolitan area with just over 100,000 inhabitants. Falun was originally famous for its copper mine, and is today an important service and industrial city even though the mine is closed (since 1992). Faluån is a river, flowing through the city, separating it into two sides. Falu copper mine is located on one of the sides which during many centuries was one of Sweden's main business. This side of the river was usually called "the mining side", where not many plants grew due to the toxic smoke which contaminated the soil. On the other side of the river, where the smoke did not reach, set many large villas, which made this side to be called "the delightful side". Växjö
Växjö ( ) is a city and the seat of Växjö Municipality, Kronoberg County, Sweden. It had 70,489 inhabitants (2019) out of a municipal population of 95,995 (2021). It is the administrative, cultural, and industrial centre of Kronoberg County and the episcopal see of the Diocese of Växjö and the location of Växjö Cathedral. Gävle
Gävle () is a city in Sweden, the seat of Gävle Municipality and the capital of Gävleborg County. It had 77,586 inhabitants in 2020, which makes it the 13th most populated city in Sweden. It is the oldest city in the historical Norrland (Sweden's Northern Lands), having received its charter in 1446 from Christopher of Bavaria. However, Gävle is far nearer to the greater Stockholm region than it is to most other major settlements in Norrland and has a much milder climate than associated with said region. Deaf-mute is a term which was used historically to identify a person who was either deaf and used sign language or both deaf and could not speak. The term continues to be used to refer to deaf people who cannot speak an oral language or have some degree of speaking ability, but choose not to speak because of the negative or unwanted attention atypical voices sometimes attract.
