Herman Miller (Wisconsin Politician)
Herman Miller (November 11, 1833 – May 29, 1922) was an American politician and businessman. Born in Pommerania, Prussia, Germany, Miller emigrated to the United States in 1856 and settled in Marathon County, Wisconsin. He manufactured shingles and worked in a store. Miller also owned a hotel in Wausau, Wisconsin. He served a register of deeds for Marathon County. Miller also served on the Wausau village board and the Marathon County Board Supervisors. Marathon County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2020 census, the population was 138,013. Marathon County's seat is Wausau. It was founded in 1850, created from a portion of Portage County. At that time the county stretched to the northern border with the upper Michigan peninsula. It is named after the battlefield at Marathon, Greece. Wausau ( ) is a city in and the county seat of Marathon County, Wisconsin, United States. The Wisconsin River divides the city into east and west. The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Representatives are elected for two-year terms, elected during the fall elections. If a vacancy occurs in an Assembly seat between elections, it may be filled only by a special election.
