Herman C. Schultz
Herman C. Schultz (July 24, 1860 - December 22, 1935) was an American civil servant from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, who served a single four-year term as a member of the Wisconsin State Senate, towards the end of which he legally changed his name to Senator Schultz. Background Schultz was born, in Wittenberge, Kingdom of Prussia on July 24, 1860, but during his infancy moved with his parents to Grabow in Mecklenburg-Schwerin. He received an academic education and went into civil service for six years. In 1882, he came to Milwaukee, and operated an art supplies store with his brother. In 1887, he went into newspaper journalism, and in 1890 became superintendent of the Third Street post office. In 1894, he became a worker in the office of the city clerk. He was appointed secretary of the city Election Commission in Milwaukee upon its 1911 creation, a position he would hold for the rest of his life. Standing Committee
A committee or commission is a body of one or more persons subordinate to a deliberative assembly. A committee is not itself considered to be a form of assembly. Usually, the assembly sends matters into a committee as a way to explore them more fully than would be possible if the assembly itself were considering them. Committees may have different functions and their types of work differ depending on the type of the organization and its needs. A member of a legislature may be delegated a committee assignment, which gives them the right to serve on a certain committee. Whitefish Bay is a village in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 14,954 at the 2020 census. History In the early 19th century when the first white settlers arrived, the Whitefish Bay area was controlled by Native Americans, including the Menominee, Potawatomi, and Sauk people. The area came under the control of the United States Federal Government in 1832 when the Menominee surrendered their claims to the land by signing the '' Treaty of Washington''. The land was organized as part of the Town of Milwaukee in 1835, and for much of the 19th century, the community's main economic activities were farming and fishing. Many of the early settlers were German immigrants. In 1889, Pabst Brewing Company-owner Frederick Pabst purchased land in the Whitefish Bay area which he developed into the Whitefish Bay Pabst Resort, which included a hotel, restaurant, beer garden, and bandshell. Shorewood is a village in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 13,859 at the 2020 census. History In the early 19th century when the first European American settlers arrived, the Shorewood area was controlled by Native Americans, including the Menominee, Potawatomi, and Sauk people. The United States Federal Government acquired the land from the Menominee people in 1832 through the '' Treaty of Washington''. The land was organized as part of the Town of Milwaukee in 1835, and when settlers arrived in the mid-1830s, they found the area to be heavily forested. They built two sawmills on the east bank of the Milwaukee River, and the unincorporated community around the sawmills was known as Mechanicsville. North Milwaukee, Wisconsin
North Milwaukee (originally Schwartzburg and later briefly Northern Junction) was a village in northern Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. History The original Schwartzburg was a hamlet centered on a large farm settled by one Christian Schwartzburg on land bought from Byron Kilbourn, and was named after the settlement's most prominent citizen. In the 1850s Schwartzburg began to sell some of his land holding to others, and a railroad depot was established in the area. Expansion was fuelled by real estate developer and streetcar magnate Henry Clay Payne, and the village (now renamed North Milwaukee) was incorporated in 1897 and merged with the City of Milwaukee on January 1, 1929. The Town of Milwaukee (not to be confused with the City of Milwaukee) was a town in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States, created on March 17, 1835. A number of Milwaukee County municipalities, beginning with the City of Milwaukee, were created out of portions of it. After the last portions of the town were annexed, it officially ceased to exist in 1955. Geography The Town of Milwaukee was originally co-terminous with Milwaukee County itself. Granville was a town located in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. One portion was incorporated as the village of Brown Deer in 1955; the remainder consolidated with the City of Milwaukee in 1956, and became a neighborhood of Milwaukee. History The first settlers came to the area in 1835, including some from Granville, New York, who gave the area its name. On January 13, 1840, the Town of Granville was created by the territorial legislature, encompassing a western portion of the Town of Milwaukee.
