Here I Am (2011 Film)
''Here I Am'' is a 2011 Australian drama film written and directed by Beck Cole. Plot The film tells the story of a young Aboriginal Australian, Aboriginal woman who has been recently released from prison, and wishes to turn her life around. She finds her way to a women's refuge, where she meets a number of other Aboriginal women, all escaping problems, who provide support as she tries to reconnect with her family, including her estranged mother, Lois, and her child, Rosie who is in the care of her grandmother. Beck Cole
Beck Cole is an Australian filmmaker of the Warramungu and Luritja nations. She is known for her work on numerous TV series, including ''First Australians'', ''Grace Beside Me'', ''Black Comedy'' and ''Wentworth'', as well as documentaries and short films. She is based in Alice Springs, in the Northern Territory. Early life, education and early career Cole grew up in Adelaide and around the Port Adelaide area. Cole started working in media as a journalist when she got a cadetship at Imparja Television, when still at school. She gained experience in both writing and presenting stories, and also worked as a news and weather presenter. She graduated from Charles Sturt University with a BA in Communication and Sociology, and soon afterwards started work in the Indigenous Unit at ABC Television, where she started her filmmaking career. A standing ovation is a form of applause where members of a seated audience stand up while applauding after extraordinary performances of particularly high acclaim. PJ Harvey
Polly Jean Harvey (born 9 October 1969) is an English singer, songwriter, and musician. Primarily known as a vocalist and guitarist, she is also proficient with a wide range of instruments. Harvey began her career in 1988 when she joined local band Automatic Dlamini as a vocalist, guitarist and saxophonist. The band's frontman, John Parish, became her long-term collaborator. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are an American indie rock band formed in New York City in 2000. Aboriginal Australians
Aboriginal Australians are the various Indigenous peoples of the Australian mainland and many of its islands, such as Tasmania, Fraser Island, Hinchinbrook Island, the Tiwi Islands, and Groote Eylandt, but excluding the Torres Strait Islands.
