Herbert Funk Goodrich
Herbert Funk Goodrich (July 29, 1889 – June 25, 1962) was a United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He was also Dean of the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Education and career Born on July 29, 1889, in Anoka, Minnesota, Goodrich received an Artium Baccalaureus degree in 1911 from Carleton College and a Bachelor of Laws in 1914 from Harvard Law School. He was a faculty member at the State University of Iowa (now the University of Iowa) from 1914 to 1922, as an instructor in law from 1914 to 1915, an Assistant Professor from 1915 to 1919, Professor from 1919 to 1921 and as Acting Dean of the State University of Iowa College of Law (now the University of Iowa College of Law) from 1921 to 1922. Herbert Wechsler (December 4, 1913 – April 26, 2004) was an American legal scholar and former director of the American Law Institute (ALI). He is most widely known for his constitutional law scholarship and for the creation of the Model Penal Code. ''The Journal of Legal Studies'' has identified Wechsler as one of the most cited legal scholars of the 20th century. Early life Wechsler entered City College of New York at 16 and graduated in 1928, with a bachelor's degree in French. He enrolled at Columbia Law School, where he served as editor-in-chief of the ''Columbia Law Review'' and graduated in 1931. After graduation, he joined the faculty and took a one-year leave to clerk for Justice Harlan F. Stone of the US Supreme Court. William Draper Lewis (1867–1949) was the first full-time dean of the University of Pennsylvania Law School (1896–1914), and the founding director (1923–1947) of the American Law Institute. William Ephraim Mikell
William Ephraim Mikell (January 29, 1868 January 19, 1944) was an American legal scholar, lawyer and dean of the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Biography Mikell was born in Sumter, South Carolina, to Thomas Price and Rebecca (Moses) Mikell. He married Martha Turner McBee in 1894. He lived in Philadelphia and maintained a winter home in Charleston, South Carolina, and was buried in the city. He graduated from South Carolina Military College (the Citadel) with a BS in 1890, and from the University of Virginia Law School in 1894. Mikell was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 1894. Mikell was Dean of the University of Pennsylvania Law School from 1915 to 1929. He had joined the law school faculty in 1897, and taught at the law school for 46 years.
