Herbert Brown (Australian Politician)
Herbert Harrington Brown (12 March 1839 – 1 July 1929) was an Australian politician. He was born at Parramatta to John and Charlotte Brown, who farmed in the upper Paterson district from 1843. He was educated at Newcastle and Cook's River, and on 4 November 1860 married Harriet Lindeman, with whom he had six children. He was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly as the member for Paterson at the by-election in 1875. The seat was replaced by Durham in 1880, and Brown held the seat until his defeat in 1898. When the party system emerged he was initially a Free Trader, but he drifted towards the Protectionists over the years. Herbert Brown (March 6, 1848 – May 12, 1913) was an Americans, American ornithologist and journalist who lived and worked in Arizona. He founded the Audubon Society of Arizona along with Harriet Blake and his collections of natural history specimens are now a part of the University of Arizona. Biography Herbert Brown was born in Winchester, Virginia, and moved to work in Tucson, Arizona, Tucson in 1873. He worked in various industries including timber, mining and trade before becoming a reporter for the ''Arizona Daily Star'' in the 1870s. He then became an administrator of the Territorial Land Office but a change in the administration led to his resignation in 1886 to join the ''Tucson Citizen'', a newspaper that he acquired later. After meeting Edward William Nelson in 1883 he took an interest in natural history and began to collect specimens of the local fauna and flora.
