Herb Capozzi
Harold Peter "Herb" Capozzi (April 24, 1925 – November 21, 2011) was an athlete, businessman, professional sports team manager and political figure in British Columbia. He represented Vancouver Centre in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia from 1966 to 1972 as a Social Credit member. He was born in Kelowna in 1925, the son of Pasquale "Cap" Capozzi, an Italian immigrant. Capozzi won a sports scholarship to the University of British Columbia, where he received B.A. and BComm degrees. At university, Herb was a member of the BC Alpha chapter of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. In 1952, he moved to Calgary, where he worked for Shell Oil. Capozzi played with the Calgary Stampeders and Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League. Montreal Alouettes
The Montreal Alouettes (Canadian French, French: Les Alouettes de Montréal) are a professional Canadian football team based in Montreal, Quebec. Founded in 1946, the team has folded and been revived twice. The Alouettes compete in the Canadian Football League East Division, East Division of the Canadian Football League (CFL) and last won the Grey Cup championship in 98th Grey Cup, 2010. Their home field is Percival Molson Memorial Stadium for the regular season and as of 2014 also home of their playoff games. The Keg is a Canadian-owned chain of steakhouse restaurants and bars located in Canada and the United States. The 1986 World Exposition on Transportation and Communication, or simply Expo 86, was a World's Fair held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada from May 2 until October 13, 1986. The fair, the theme of which was "Transportation and Communication: World in Motion – World in Touch", coincided with Vancouver's centennial and was held on the north shore of False Creek. It was the second time that Canada held a World's Fair, the first being Expo 67 in Montreal (during the Canadian Centennial). Canadian Soccer Hall Of Fame
The Canada Soccer Hall of Fame honours people and institutions for their contributions to Canadian soccer. It was founded in 1997 by the Ontario Soccer Association and was originally located in Vaughan, Ontario. As of 2019, the Canada Soccer Hall of Fame has inducted 114 players, 13 managers/coaches, 10 officials, and 40 builders as honoured members. North American Soccer League (1968–1984)
The North American Soccer League (NASL) was the top-level major professional soccer league in the United States and Canada that operated from 1968 to 1984. It was the first soccer league to be successful on a national scale in the United States. The league final was called the Soccer Bowl from 1975 to 1983 and the Soccer Bowl Series in its final year, 1984. The league was headed by Commissioner Phil Woosnam from 1969 to 1983. The original Vancouver Whitecaps were a professional soccer team founded on December 11, 1973. During the 1970s and 1980s they played in the North American Soccer League (NASL).
