Herb Appenzeller
Herbert Thomas Appenzeller (September 28, 1925 – January 5, 2018) was an American football coach and college athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach at Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina from 1956 to 1962, compiling a record of 10–50–1. A native of Newark, New Jersey, Appenzeller played college football and ran track at Wake Forest University. He was the head football coach at Chowan College—now known as Chowan University—in Murfreesboro, North Carolina Murfreesboro is a town in Hertford County, North Carolina, United States. Greensboro, North Carolina
Greensboro (; formerly Greensborough) is a city in and the county seat of Guilford County, North Carolina, United States. It is the third-most populous city in North Carolina after Charlotte and Raleigh, the 69th-most populous city in the United States, and the largest city in the Piedmont Triad metropolitan region. At the 2020 census, its population was 299,035. Three major interstate highways (Interstate 40, Interstate 85, and Interstate 73) in the Piedmont region of central North Carolina were built to intersect at this city. Conference Carolinas, formerly known as the Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference (CVAC) or the Carolinas Conference, is a college athletic conference affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) primarily at the Division II level.
