Heraclio Fernández
Heraclio Fernández Noya (1851–1886), was a Venezuelan musician, best known for the composition El Diablo Suelto. Heraclio Fernández Noya was born in Maracaibo in 1851, but since he was a child he lived in La Guaira, together with his father Manuel María Fernández, from whom he received his first piano lessons. Both in his hometown, and in La Guaira, he taught piano lessons. In Caracas, he founded the newspaper El Zancudo, a weekly whose first issue was published on January 9, 1876. La Guaira
La Guaira () is the capital city of the Venezuelan state of the same name (formerly named Vargas) and the country's main port. It was founded in 1577 as an outlet for Caracas, to the southeast. The town and the port were badly damaged during the December 1999 floods and mudslides that affected much of the region. The city hosts its own professional baseball team in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League, the Tiburones de La Guaira. They have won seven national championships since their founding in 1962. El Diablo Suelto (''The Devil on the Loose''), published originally in 1888, is one of the most renowned songs in Venezuela's music history. Composed by Heraclio Fernández, this popular waltz created in the western state of Zulia is played as a joropo, as it forms part of Venezuelan folk culture. __NOTOC__ Alirio Díaz (12 November 19235 July 2016) was a Venezuelan classical guitarist and composer, considered one of the most prominent composer-guitarists of South America and an eminent musician. He studied with Andrés Segovia, and gave concerts all over the world. A guitar competition named ''Concurso Internacional de Guitarra Alirio Díaz'' has been held in his honor in Caracas and other cities in Venezuela (the April 2006 contest was held in Carora).
