Her Winning Way
''Her Winning Way'' is a silent comedy film directed by Joseph Henabery and starring Mary Miles Minter. The screenplay was written by Douglas Z. Doty, based upon the novel ''Ann Annington'' by Edgar Jepson and the play ''Ann'' by Lechmere Worrall. As with many of Minter's features, it is thought to be a lost film. Plot As described in various film magazine reviews, Ann Annington (Minter) is a book reviewer working for a magazine publishing firm, who send her to interview author Harold Hargrave (Glass). Hargrave is notoriously reticent and refuses the interview, so Ann decides to obtain the necessary information by other means. Dressing up as a maid, Ann obtains a position in Hargrave's apartment and sets about seducing him, even suggesting that he kiss her in order to be able to write about romance more convincingly. Joseph Henabery
Joseph Henabery (January 15, 1888 – February 18, 1976) of Omaha, Nebraska, was a film actor, screenplay writer, and director in the United States. He is best known for his portrayal of Abraham Lincoln in D.W. Griffith's controversial 1915 silent historical epic ''The Birth of a Nation''. Early years Henabery was born in Omaha and raised in Los Angeles. He began acting as an amateur in California. Before he worked in films, Henabery worked for the San Pedro, Los Angeles, Salt Lake Railroad. When he was 25 years old, he became an extra for Universal Pictures. Career Henabery's acting career began in ''The Joke on Yellentown'' (1914). From 1914 to 1917 he appeared in seventeen films, including his portrayal of Lincoln in ''The Birth of a Nation''. Henabery also worked as a second-unit director on Griffith's ''Intolerance'' (1916), and supervised the filming of at least one extended sequence that appeared in the film. Fred Goodwins (26 February 1891 – April 1923) was an English actor, film director and screenwriter of the silent era. He appeared in 24 films between 1915 and 1921.He most notably worked with Charlie Chaplin during Chaplin's mutual period, and wrote a series of articles detailing the production process of the period which were published in the magazine Red letter in 1916, and later compiled in a book titled "Charlie Chaplin's red letter days".
