Her Grace Commands
''Her Grace Commands'' (german: Ihre Hoheit befiehlt) is a 1931 German romantic comedy film directed by Hanns Schwarz and starring Käthe von Nagy, Willy Fritsch and Reinhold Schünzel. It is also translated into the alternative title ''Her Highness Commands''. It was shot at the Babelsberg Studios with sets designed by the art director Erich Kettelhut. It premiered in Mannheim on 3 March 1931, before being released at the Gloria-Palast in Berlin the next day. A French-language version (''Princess, At Your Orders!'') was produced simultaneously, also directed by Schwarz but with a different cast. The film was remade in Hollywood as well, retitled '' Adorable'', and released by the Fox Film Corporation in 1933. Hanns Schwarz
Hanns Schwarz (11 February 1888 – 27 October 1945) was an Austrian film director. He was born in Vienna on 11 February 1888. Biography He directed twenty four films between 1924 and 1937 in both English and German. During the late silent and early sound eras, he was a leading director at the large German studio UFA. In the early 1930s he worked on several multi-language version films for UFA, producing the same films in distinct German and foreign-language versions. Schwarz was Jewish and was therefore forced to leave Germany in 1933 when the Nazis took over, going into exile in Britain. His last film was the 1937 British thriller '' Return of the Scarlet Pimpernel''. He died in California on 27 October 1945. Erich Kettelhut
Erich Karl Heinrich Kettelhut (1 November 1893 – 13 March 1979) was a German production designer, art director and set decorator. Kettelhut is considered one of the most important artists in the history of early German cinema, mainly for his set direction for '' Die Nibelungen'' (1924) and his design and visual effects for '' Metropolis'' (1927). His early career was defined by a working relationship with fellow designers Otto Hunte and Karl Vollbrecht, the trio working on many of Fritz Lang's early German films. Despite being best known for his iconic visuals on several of the most important films of German Expressionist cinema, he is also noted for a career spanning into the 1960s and his work on more light-hearted films and musicals. The Fox Film Corporation (also known as Fox Studios) was an American Independent film production studio formed by William Fox (1879–1952) in 1915, by combining his earlier Greater New York Film Rental Company and Box Office Attractions Film Company (founded 1913).
