Her Code Of Honor
''Her Code of Honor'' is a 1919 American silent drama film directed by John M. Stahl and starring Florence Reed. Its alternate title was ''The Call of the Heart''. A print of it is held by the British Film Institute's National Film and Television Archive in London. Plot As described in a film magazine, Alice (Reed), who innocently uses a surname not her own, becomes engaged to Eugene La Salle (Desmond), whom she meets following an automobile accident. He attends a house party at the home of her benefactor Tom Davis (Francis), a man whose love for her mother Helen (Reed) allowed him to raise her from babyhood. On a moonlit night the passion between Alice and Eugene overcomes their patience. Eugene goes abroad for a few months and on his return finds that Alice is pregnant. They agree to be married the next day. William Desmond (actor)
William Desmond (born William Mannion; January 23, 1878 – November 3, 1949) was an American actor. He appeared in more than 200 films between 1915 and 1948. He was nicknamed "The King of the Silent Serials." Born William Mannion in Horseheads, New York, he was raised in New York City. He later changed his surname to a stage name. He started out in vaudeville and the legitimate stage before making his film debut. In 1919, he married his co-star Mary McIvor, with whom he had two daughters. On November 3, 1949, Desmond died at age 71 of a heart attack in Los Angeles, California. He is interred at the Chapel of the Pines Crematory, Los Angeles. Irving Caminsky (October 9, 1888 – April 18, 1959) was an American movie actor and director. Career Born in New York City, Cummings started his acting career at age 16 in ''Diplomacy''. His Broadway, performances included ''In the Long Run'' (1909) and ''Object -- Matrimony'' (1916). Acting in the Proctor Stock Company, Cummings appeared with Lillian Russell and other actresses. He entered into movies in 1909, acting with the P. A. Powers company in Mount Vernon, New York, and quickly became a popular leading man. Few of the films he made as an actor are easily available, except for Buster Keaton's first feature film, ''The Saphead'' (1920), in which Cummings plays a crooked stockbroker and Fred Niblo's film Sex (1920), one of the first films to depict a new phenomenon in 1920s America, the Flapper. Robert Frazer (born Robert William Browne, June 29, 1891August 17, 1944) was an American actor who appeared in some 224 shorts and films from the 1910s until his death. He began in films with the Eclair company which released through Universal Pictures. Early years Frazer was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, and educated in Massachusetts. When he was young, he worked in a grocery store during vacations and spent much of his spare time reading plays and literature about becoming an actor. He also staged backyard plays for his friends. Acting career Frazer acted with several repertory companies, including the Cosgrove Stock Company, toured the United States in productions, and performed on Broadway in ''Seremonda'' (1917). Frances Irene Reels, also known as Irene Reels (1892–1926), was an American screenwriter and stage actress active during Hollywood's silent era. She was married to director John M. Stahl. Biography Frances was born in Smithville, Mississippi, to Emmett Reel and Marie Underhill. She began acting and singing at a young age, and appeared in traveling productions as a teenager. She married John M. Stahl in 1918, and the two collaborated on a number of films, with Stahl directing and Reels writing the stories. She died unexpectedly on November 10, 1926, after undergoing surgery. She was 34.
