Henrythenavigator
Henrythenavigator (foaled February 28, 2005) is an American-bred and Irish-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. He won the 2000 Guineas, the Irish 2,000 Guineas, the St. James's Palace Stakes and the Sussex Stakes in 2008. After he finished second in the Breeders' Cup Classic it was announced that Henrythenavigator would retire to Ashford Stud, Kentucky (Coolmore's farm in Kentucky), to stand at stud beginning the 2009 season. For the 2010 season, he shuttled between Ashford Stud and Coolmore's Australian farm; he now shuttles between Coolmore's Ireland and Australia farms. He is named after the Portuguese prince Henry the Navigator. Stud record Henrythenavigator attracted a number of top-class mares in his first season. Sudirman (horse)
Sudirman (foaled 23 April 2011) is an American-bred, Irish-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. As a two-year-old in 2013 he was beaten in his first two starts but then ran up three consecutive victories including the Railway Stakes and the Phoenix Stakes. He also finished second in the National Stakes later that year. He made little impact in two starts as a three-year-old. Background Sudirman is a bay horse with no white markings bred in Kentucky by Kathryn Nikkel & Jeanne Canty. Pedro the Great (27 March 2010 – 9 August 2019) is an American-bred, Irish-trained Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. He raced only as a two-year-old in 2012 when he won two of his five races including the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes. He was retired from racing in 2013 and became a breeding stallion in France. Background Pedro the Great is a bay horse bred in Kentucky by Anthony Oppenheimer's Hascombe Stud. In 2011 he was sent to Englnad and put up for the auction at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale where he was bought for 150,000 guineas by John Magnier of the Coolmore Stud. The 2000 Guineas Stakes is a Group 1 flat race in Great Britain open to three-year-old thoroughbred colts and fillies. It is run on the Rowley Mile at Newmarket over a distance of 1 mile (1,609 metres) and scheduled to take place each year at the start of May. The Irish 2,000 Guineas is a Group 1 flat horse race in Ireland open to three-year-old thoroughbred colts and fillies. It is run at the Curragh over a distance of 1 mile (1,609 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in May. History The event was established in 1921, a year before the launch of the Irish 1,000 Guineas. The inaugural running was won by Soldennis. It is Ireland's equivalent of the 2,000 Guineas, and in recent years it has taken place three weeks after that race. The field usually includes horses which previously contested the English version, and nine have achieved victory in both events. The Coventry Stakes is a Group 2 flat horse race in Great Britain open to two-year-old horses. It is run at Ascot over a distance of 6 furlongs (1,207 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in June. History The event was established in 1890, and it was named after the 9th Earl of Coventry, who served as the Master of the Buckhounds at that time. The present system of race grading was introduced in 1971, and for a period the Coventry Stakes was classed at Group 3 level. It was promoted to Group 2 status in 2004. Sussex Stakes
The Sussex Stakes is a Group 1 flat horse race in Great Britain open to horses aged three years or older. It is run at Goodwood over a distance of 1 mile (1,609 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in late July or early August. History The first version of the event, a 6-furlong race for two-year-olds, was established in 1841. It continued intermittently for thirty-seven years, but it was uncontested on twenty-five occasions including fourteen walkovers. The Sussex Stakes became a 1-mile race for three-year-olds in 1878. The previous version had been overshadowed by both the Goodwood Cup and the Stewards' Cup, but in its modified form it became the most prestigious race at Goodwood. Vertigineux (foaled, March 8, 1995 – 2014) was an American Thoroughbred racemare. She is out of the stakes-winning Forlì mare For The Flag, by the outstanding sire Kris S. Her owner is Eric Kronfeld, who bought back Vertigineux for $120,000 (equivalent to $ in ) after she failed to meet her reserve at the 1996 Keenland yearling sale. Her name means "breathtaking" or "dazzling" (speed) in French. During her racing career, she was trained by Michael Dickinson and had a modest career, consisting of two wins on Belmont turf in seven starts. Vertigineux is best known, however, not for her racing success as a winner, but for her success as a broodmare. Sequoyah (horse)
Sequoyah (9 March 1998) is an Irish Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. As a juvenile in 2000 she showed high-class form, winning the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes and being placed in both the Railway Stakes and the Debutante Stakes. In the following year she failed to win but ran well against top quality competition to finish fourth in the Irish 1000 Guineas and the Irish Oaks. After her retirement from racing she became a successful broodmare, most notably producing Henrythenavigator. Background Sequoyah was a bay mare bred in Ireland by the County Tipperary-based Brittas House Stud, which is owned by Peter Magnier, the brother of John Magnier. Miesque ( ; March 14, 1984 – January 20, 2011) was a champion Thoroughbred racemare. At age three, she was a dual Classic winner in France and Britain, then went on to win the Breeders' Cup Mile in America. Her four-year-old campaign was highlighted by another win in the Mile, making her the first horse to win two consecutive Breeders' Cup races. She was a Group One/Grade I (G1) winner at two, three and four-years-old, for a total of 10 G1 wins. She was inducted into the American Racing Hall of Fame in 1999. Peeping Fawn (foaled January 15, 2004 in Kentucky) is a Champion Irish-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. Unraced as a two-year-old, it took her four tries to break her maiden at age three. Kingmambo
Kingmambo (February 19, 1990 – January 20, 2016) was an American-bred, French-trained thoroughbred racehorse and sire. Background He was sired by the leading stallion, Mr. Prospector, who in turn was a son of Raise a Native, out of the 1999 United States Racing Hall of Fame mare Miesque, who in turn was a daughter of the great Nureyev. Although born and bred in the U.S., Kingmambo raced in England and France for owner Stavros Niarchos.
