Henry Youl
Henry Youl (born 12 October 1995) is an Australian representative rower. He has represented at underage and senior World Championships and won a bronze medal at the 2022 World Championships. Club and state rowing Youl was raised in Tasmania. His Australian senior club rowing has been from the Tamar Rowing Club in Launceston and then following his selection to national squads, from the Sydney University Boat Club. International representative rowing Youl made his Australian representative debut as stroke of the coxless four at the 2016 U23 World Rowing Championships in Rotterdam. He led that crew to a bronze medal win. The following year Youl again stroked the Australian U23 coxless four at the U23 World Championships in Plovdiv. They finished overall fifth. Youl was selected in the Australian team for the 2022 international season and the 2022 World Rowing Championships. Sydney University Boat Club
Sydney University Boat Club is the rowing club in Sydney, Australia with the oldest charter having been formed in 1860 by the founders of the University of Sydney. It has had a boatshed presence in various locations on Sydney Harbour since 1886, excepting between 1941 and 1966. A varsity and recreational club during most of its history, the Boat Club has since the 1990s had a focus on its high performance and elite rowing programs. Rowing (sport)
Rowing, sometimes called crew in the United States, is the sport of racing boats using oars. It differs from paddling sports in that rowing oars are attached to the boat using oarlocks, while paddles are not connected to the boat. Rowing is divided into two disciplines: sculling and sweep rowing. In sculling, each rower holds two oars—one in each hand, while in sweep rowing each rower holds one oar with both hands. There are several boat classes in which athletes may compete, ranging from single sculls, occupied by one person, to shells with eight rowers and a coxswain, called eights. World Rowing Championships
The World Rowing Championships is an international rowing regatta organized by FISA (the International Rowing Federation). It is a week-long event held at the end of the northern hemisphere summer and in non-Olympic years is the highlight of the international rowing calendar. History The first event was held in Lucerne, Switzerland, in 1962. The event then was held every four years until 1974, when it became an annual competition. Rowing World Cup
The World Rowing Cup is an international rowing competition organized by FISA (the International Rowing Federation). It began in 1997 and comprises three regattas (apart from in 2001 when there were four) held throughout early summer. In each event points are awarded to the top seven finishing boats and an overall winner determined after the last world cup regatta each year. During the regattas the current leader in each event must wear yellow bibs. The World Rowing Cup has only been staged outside Europe on 3 occasions, in 2001 Princeton and in both 2013 and 2014 Sydney. David Bartholot
David Bartholot (born 26 September 1995) is an Australian representative rower. He is an Australian national champion and represented in the double-scull at the 2019 and 2022 World Championships. Club and state rowing Bartholot was raised in Forster on the New South Wales Mid North Coast. He started rowing at Sydney University where he commenced studies in 2015. He was a resident at St Andrew's College and his senior club rowing has been from the Sydney University Boat Club. In 2018 in SUBC colours Bartholot contested the open men's single and double scull titles at the Australian Rowing Championships. In 2019 he contested the open men's single scull and won the open's men's quad scull national championship title in an SUBC/ANU composite crew. Jack Cleary (rower)
Jack Cleary (born 8 August 1995) is an Australian representative rower. He is an Australian national champion, has represented at world championships and is an Olympic medallist. He raced in the Australian men's quad scull at Tokyo 2021 to a bronze medal. Club and state rowing Cleary was schooled at Trinity College, Perth where he took up rowing. His senior club rowing started from the West Australian Rowing Club. Cleary's state representative debut for Western Australia came in 2013 when he was selected in the state youth eight to contest the Noel Wilkinson trophy at the Interstate Regatta. In 2014 he was selected in the West Australian men's senior eight to contest the Kings Cup. Cleary attended the University of California, Berkeley, double-majoring in Economics and Sociology.
