Henry Woods (British Army Officer)
Major-General Henry Gabriel Woods, (7 May 1924 – 19 September 2019) was a British Army officer. Military career Educated at Highgate School and Trinity College, Oxford, Woods was commissioned into the 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards in 1944 and served in North West Europe during the Second World War.'' Who's Who 2010'', A & C Black, 2010, He also saw action during the Korean War. He became commanding officer of the 5th Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards in 1965. He went on to be Commandant, Royal Armoured Corps Centre in 1969, British Military Attaché in Washington, D.C. in 1973 and General Officer Commanding North East District in 1976. The Most Honourable Order of the Bath is a British order of chivalry founded by George I on 18 May 1725. The name derives from the elaborate medieval ceremony for appointing a knight, which involved bathing (as a symbol of purification) as one of its elements. The knights so created were known as "Knights of the Bath". George I "erected the Knights of the Bath into a regular Military Order".
