Henry Skinner West
Henry Skinner West (December 23, 1870 – April 9, 1961) was the fifth principal of Maryland State Normal School (now Towson University). Early life Henry Skinner West was born on December 23, 1870, in Baltimore. He attended schools in Maryland. He graduated from both the Baltimore City College and the University of Maryland in 1890. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1893 and a PhD in 1899 from Johns Hopkins University. Career From 1890 to 1891, West taught at a Baltimore elementary school. He then worked as a professor at Baltimore City College from 1894 to 1897 and again in 1900. He was an instructor at Johns Hopkins University from 1899 to 1900. He was principal at Western High School from 1900 to 1906. West was the special assistant superintendent for schools in Baltimore from 1906 to 1911. He then worked for Johns Hopkins summer schools for teachers from 1911 to 1915. West was professor of education and director of secondary schools in Cincinnati, Ohio, from 1912 to ... Henry Wyndham West
Henry Wyndham West (7 November 1823 – 25 November 1893) was an English barrister and Liberal politician. Life West was the son of Martin John West and his wife Lady Maria Walpole, daughter of the 2nd Earl of Orford. His father was Recorder of Lynn, and Commissioner of Bankrupts for the Leeds District. He was educated at Eton and Christ Church, Oxford. He was called to the bar at Inner Temple in 1848 and served on the Northern Circuit, becoming Recorder of Scarborough in 1858 and then Recorder of Manchester in 1865 (until 1893). He was appointed Attorney General of the Duchy of Lancaster in 1861 and Queen's Counsel in 1868. West stood unsuccessfully as Member of Parliament for Ipswich in 1865, but was elected for the seat in 1868. He lost the seat in 1874, but was re-elected in 1883. Bedford is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2017 by Mohammad Yasin of the Labour Party. The seat dates to the earliest century of regular parliaments, in 1295; its double representation was halved in 1885, then being altered by the later-termed Fourth Reform Act in 1918.
