Henry Way Rymill
Henry Way Rymill CBE (9 October 1907 – 8 January 1971) was The Boy Scouts Association’s South Australian branch chief commissioner from 1936, and was the Royal South Australia Yacht Squadron’s commodore for six years. The Boy Scouts Association awarded him its Silver Wolf Award in 1943. He was appointed a CBE in 1949. The Scout Association
The Scout Association is the largest Scouting organisation in the United Kingdom and is the World Organization of the Scout Movement's recognised member for the United Kingdom. Following the origin of Scouting in 1907, the association was formed in 1910 and incorporated in 1912 by a royal charter under its previous name of The Boy Scouts Association. Scouting in South Australia began in 1908. In the early years of Scouting in South Australia, local Boy Scout patrols and troops formed independently and there were several separate central organisations including Boys' Brigade Scouts, Church Lads Brigade Scouts, Chums Scouts, British Boy Scouts, The Boy Scouts Association, Life-Saving Scouts of the Salvation Army and Methodist Boy Scouts. Silver Wolf Award (The Scout Association)
The Silver Wolf is the highest award made by The Scout Association "for services of the most exceptional character." It is an unrestricted gift of the Chief Scout. The award consists of a Silver Wolf suspended from a dark green and yellow neck ribbon. History Since its inception by Robert Baden-Powell, the Silver Wolf has remained the "unrestricted gift of the Chief Scout", although "County Commissioners and overseas Chief Scouts may submit recommendations to Scout Headquarters." During the early years of the development of the Scout Movement throughout the world, it was the practice of the Founder, Lord Baden-Powell, to give the Silver Wolf to Scouters in any country who had done outstandingly valuable work for the Movement. Commander Of The Order Of The British Empire
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. The ''Australian Dictionary of Biography'' (ADB or AuDB) is a national co-operative enterprise founded and maintained by the Australian National University (ANU) to produce authoritative biographical articles on eminent people in Australia's history. Initially published in a series of twelve hard-copy volumes between 1966 and 2005, the dictionary has been published online since 2006 by the National Centre of Biography at ANU, which has also published ''Obituaries Australia'' (OA) since 2010. Shylie Katherine Rymill (''née'' Blue; 16 May 18823 April 1959) was The Girl Guides Association’s South Australia branch state commissioner from 1938 to 1950. She was an accomplished golfer. Biography Rymill was the youngest child of William Archibald Sinclair Blue (an English-born physician and surgeon) and Katharine Gollan née Gordon. As a young woman she became a noted member of Adelaide society and undertook significant charity work.
