Henry W. Wright
Henry Ward Wright (March 4, 1868 – August 19, 1948) was an American politician who served in the California State Assembly and as Speaker of the Assembly. Early life and education On March 4, 1868, Henry W. Wright was born near Ionia, Iowa in Chickasaw County, Iowa to Methodists. He graduated from Iowa State College and Omaha Commercial College. Career Wright held a minor office in Minnesota until he moved to California in 1905. During the 1912 presidential election he joined Thedore Roosevelt's Progressive Party and was elected to the state assembly in 1914. From 1915 to 1921 he served in the California State Assembly and on was selected as Speaker of the California State Assembly by acclamation on January 6, 1919. When the United States entered World War I he was appointed to a district draft board. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors (LACBOS) is the five-member governing body of Los Angeles County, California, United States. History On April 1, 1850 the citizens of Los Angeles elected a three-man Court of Sessions as their first governing body. A total of 377 votes were cast in this election. In 1852, the Legislature dissolved the Court of Sessions and created a five-member Board of Supervisors. In 1913 the citizens of Los Angeles County approved a charter recommended by a board of freeholders which gave the County greater freedom to govern itself within the framework of state law. As the population expanded throughout the twentieth century, Los Angeles County did not subdivide into separate counties or increase the number of supervisors as its population soared. Pasadena ( ) is a city in Los Angeles County, California, northeast of downtown Los Angeles. It is the most populous city and the primary cultural center of the San Gabriel Valley. Charles Hiram Randall
Charles Hiram Randall (July 23, 1865 – February 18, 1951), known as Charles Randall, was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, the California State Assembly and the Los Angeles City Council. He was the first council member to face a recall election under the present city charter. He was the only Prohibition Party candidate ever elected to Congress, in 1914. Biography The son of the Rev. Elias J. Randall and Sarah F. Schooley, Randall was born on July 23, 1865, in Auburn, Nebraska, where he was educated in the public schools. He published the ''Observer'' beginning in 1885 in Kimball and edited a paper in Harrisburg, both in that state, and various independent weeklies, from 1885 to 1892.
