Henry Parker (MP For Hertfordshire)
Sir Henry Parker (by 1514 – 6 January 1552), of Morley Hall, Hingham, Norfolk and Furneux Pelham, Hertfordshire, was an English politician. He was the son of Henry Parker, 10th Baron Morley. He shared a common ancestress in Margaret Beauchamp of Bletsoe with Henry VIII. Parker was the brother of Jane Boleyn née Parker, and thus the brother-in-law of George Boleyn, during the reign of Queen Anne Boleyn. He was knighted KB on 31 May 1533. He was appointed High Sheriff of Essex and Hertfordshire for 1536–37 and was a Justice of the Peace for Hertfordshire from 1537 to his death. He was also Custos Rotulorum of Hertfordshire from c. 1547 to his death. He was elected a Member (MP) of the Parliament of England for Hertfordshire in 1539 and 1547. Morley Old Hall
Morley Old Hall is a Grade I-listed moated manor house built in the sixteenth century in the village of Morley Saint Peter, some twelve miles from the cathedral city of Norwich, Norfolk, England. The house was created circa 1600 by John Sedley, an architect to Henry VII. It is built to a U-shaped floor plan in two storeys with two storeys of attics. Constructed in brick with plain-tiled roofs it is completely surrounded by a moat. Hertfordshire (UK Parliament Constituency)
Hertfordshire was a county constituency covering the county of Hertfordshire in England. It returned two Knights of the Shire to the House of Commons of England until 1707, then to the House of Commons of Great Britain until 1800, and to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1800 until 1832. The Reform Act 1832 gave the county a third seat with effect from the 1832 general election. Elections were held using the bloc vote system, when contested. However, even after the 1832 reforms, contested elections were the exception: of the 17 elections from 1832 to 1880, 9 were uncontested, including the 1880 general election. Erwarton
Erwarton or Arwarton is a small village and civil parish in the Babergh district of Suffolk, England. The parish includes the hamlet of Shop Corner. Located on the Shotley peninsula around south of Ipswich, in 2005 it had a population of 110, increasing to 126 at the 2011 Census. Neighbouring villages include Shotley, Shotley Gate, Harkstead, Chelmondiston and Holbrook. The name originates from the Early Saxon ''Eoforweard tūn''. Places of interest St. Mary's church, Erwarton Monuments within St. Mary's church date from the 13th century, although the present building is largely 15th century. A copy of a drawing of Queen Anne Boleyn by Holbein is attached to the 1912 organ. Henry Parker, 11th Baron Morley
Henry Parker, 11th Baron Morley (January 1533 – 22 October 1577) was an English peer, Lord of Morley, Hingham, Hockering, &c., in Norfolk, the son of Sir Henry Parker and Grace Newport. His father was the son of Henry Parker, 10th Baron Morley and Alice St. John. His father was knighted at the coronation of Anne Boleyn and died within his father's lifetime, therefore the title passed directly to him upon the death of his grandfather in 1556. He was made a Knight of the Bath at the coronation of Queen Mary I on 6 October 1553. In 1560, he became Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire. In 1561, he entertained Queen Elizabeth I at his principal residence, Allington Morley, Great Hallingbury, Essex. In 1569, he refused to sign the Act of Uniformity 1558 and the following year left the country without the queen's permission. He was based first in Brussels and later in Madrid, where Philip II of Spain made him a gift of 600 ducats in 1574. He died in Madrid on 22 October 1577. He m ...
