Henry Myers (navy)
Henry Myers (1827 – March 20, 1901) was a lieutenant-commander in the United States Navy. Life and career Myers was born in 1827 to Mordecai Myers and Sarah Henrietta Cohen. His father was the only survivor from his family of fifteen after their home was swept into the ocean in Georgetown, South Carolina, during a 1820s_Atlantic_hurricane_seasons#1822_Atlantic_hurricane_season, hurricane on September 27, 1822. His father buried the victims, which included his parents. He was appointed paymaster in the United States Navy early in his life. When Georgia (U.S. state), Georgia seceded in the American Civil War, Civil War, he joined the Confederate States Navy. He was ordered to the CSS Sumter, CSS ''Sumter'', commanded by Raphael Semmes. When he died, he was one of the last surviving members of the vessel. Myers was captured in Tangier in 1862. The ''Sumter'' was not seaworthy at the time, and was in dock at Cádiz. Hy Myers
Henry Harrison "Hy" Myers (April 27, 1889 – May 1, 1965) was a professional baseball player. He was an outfielder over all or part of 14 seasons (1909–1925) with the Brooklyn Superbas/Robins, St. Louis Cardinals, and Cincinnati Reds. In 1919 he led the National League in RBIs (73), triples (14), slugging (.436) and total bases (223). He appeared in 154 games the next year for the pennant-winning Robins, again leading the league in triples (22). He participated in the 1916 and 1920 World Series for Brooklyn, losing both times and hitting only .208 (10-48). In a 14-year career, Myers was a .281 hitter (1380-4910) with 32 home runs, 555 runs, 179 doubles, 100 triples and 559 RBI in 1,310 games played. As a member of the Dodgers he had four 5-hit games. He was born in 1889 in East Liverpool, Ohio, and died on May 1, 1965, in Minerva, Ohio, at the age of 76. He was buried in Grove Hill Cemetery in Hanoverton, Ohio. Henry Myers (shortstop)
Henry C. Myers (May, 1858April 18, 1895) was an American Major League Baseball player from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, who played mainly at shortstop for three seasons from to . After only playing one game for the Providence Grays during the 1881 season, he was part of the Baltimore Orioles of the American Association in . The team had many players with little or no Major League experience, and like Myers, many were from the Philadelphia area. Besides playing shortstop for the Orioles, he was also the manager. They finished last, games behind the 5th place team, with a 19–54 win–loss record. He would never manage again, and made a short playing appearance in 1884 for the Wilmington Quicksteps of the Union Association. Henry died in Philadelphia at the age of 36, and was buried at Mount Vernon Cemetery.
